Chapter 129 Removed from the Team

Blair’s warning was easy to understand.

Julian was new here.

If the researchers assigned to him had old ties with Janisa’s side, they might deliberately ma things hard for him.

And this was wartime.

R could not stand beside him every second to protect him.

If his own people stopped following orders after being stirred up, he would be in real troubl

Julian nodded.

This time, he did not talk back.

He remembered it.

“Move! White Tower support has arrived!”

“All units, check energy block reserves, parts inventory, and weapon classifications now. We only have twenty minutes!”

“Faster! Once the mothership stops, the Fourth Legion’s damaged mechas will start landing. This is not the time to mess up!”

The repair division was already roaring with orders.

When Julian’s group reached the repair bay, 250 researchers were waiting.

They would be divided into five teams of fifty.

Each team would work with one master’s disciples and form a wartime mecha repair unit.

Only then did Julian realize something.

The other four masters’ disciples had all come as groups.

The Frost family and two other teams each had seven people.

Tyrell’s side had nine, the largest group of all.

Julian alone was the single seedling on R’s side.

Chapter 129 Removed from the Team

A wolf cub in his arms.

A cat by his feet.

A tall female Beta with neat short hair stepped forward first. Her eyes were bright and live and she carried herself with clean confidence.

“Engineer Shaw, hello. I’m Kira Quinn. This is Varuna. We were both taught by Dr. R. For next few days, we’ll be carrying out this mecha repair mission with you.”

Kira was the lead among the fifty people assigned to Julian.

Varuna was her deputy.

He was a slim male Beta with dark skin and glasses. Quiet. Restrained. Not the type who lo eager to speak.

While Julian looked them over, the fifty-person team was looking him over too.

They were technically R’s students.

But they had only learned that Julian existed that morning.

And to make matters harder to swallow, they were already junior researchers at the White

Tower.

They were not masters, true.

But they were not cadets or university students anymore either.

Then they looked at Julian.

Delicate face.

Round catlike eyes.

A first-year uniform he had only just changed out of.

What were they supposed to think?

Honestly, they already felt as if an outsider was about to stand over them and give random orders.

Almost the moment that thought surfaced, several people in the group quietly turned their

eyes away.

Toward Janisa.

Toward Morday.

Even toward Yorland.

During previous battles, they had worked with those geniuses.

Soon, several of them started signaling Varuna with their eyes.

The message was obvious.

He should speak.

Varuna thought of the fact that they would reach the active front in five minutes.

His last hesitation disappeared.

“Engineer Shaw…”

“Go.”

Varuna stopped.

For a second, he did not understand what Julian meant.

Kira and the others were equally confused.

Julian stroked Ruin’s head, then raised his hand.

“You. You. You. And you.”

He pointed out the people who had exchanged looks with Varuna one by one.

After that, he watched the others’ reactions and picked out eight more.

“You like the team next door, don’t you? Go there. Work is about to start.”

His tone was light.

The faces of the people he named changed immediately.

“Engineer Shaw, that isn’t what we meant…”

Varuna hurried to explain.

Julian nodded.

you meant.”

“You don’t want to go there yourselves. You want me to invite a couple of big shots over. You think I’m not capable, and because you’ve been around longer, you think you can climb ove my head.”

Varuna went silent.

He was not good with words to begin with. After holding it in for a while, he still could not f a reply.

A female researcher spoke up instead.

“We are members of this team. Moving to another team would violate regulations. This is wartime, Engineer Shaw. You should think more about the front line.”

The meaning was clear.

If Julian could not handle the job, he should call for help early.

If repairs were delayed, or if a mecha malfunction killed a pilot, even R’s disciple would not able to carry that responsibility.

Then she heard Julian say, “Easy. I’ll remove you from my team first. Then transferring won’t break the rules.”

The female Beta said, “?”

A second earlier, Varuna’s group had thought Julian was only trying to scare them.

The next second, Julian opened the team system on his wrist terminal and dragged every one of them out.
