Chapter 142 Gen-2 Mechas
Meanwhile, at the combat front, thanks to Julian and his entire team’s effort, the first batch of upgraded S- class mechas had been deployed successfully.
One mecha burned with dazzling fire patterns across its surface. Wherever the long spear in its hand swept, flames surged into the sky, and the warped heat made the insectoids scream.
Another wind-attribute mecha moved through the battlefield at frightening speed. Its light twin blades flashed with the sharp, elegant force unique to a female Alpha.
A heavy mecha advanced like a mountain. When its giant hammer came down with earth runes, even S- class mutated mantis insectoids, known for defense, had to avoid the blow.

For a while, countless frontline soldiers watched their regiment commanders, company commanders, and squad leaders slaughter through the enemy and shatter the insectoids’ newest wave.
Then the combat channels filled with monkey-like screaming.
“Master Julian is insane!”
“What kind of divine mecha is this? Holy shit!”
“So this is how melee weapons are supposed to be used? Fuck, I learned it! I want to use melee too!”
“Are the S-class upgrades done yet? When is it our A-class turn?”
On Gaia, R glanced at Sir Waffles, who had returned, while her hands continued repairing the main cannon without the slightest pause.
Byron Frost, who had taken a quick look at the battlefield, had bright eyes.
“Young talent really is terrifying. Truly terrifying…”
Another master sighed loudly, “No wonder you brought him to the battlefield. A genius like that has to be tempered in blood and fire. If not, it would be a loss for the future of mecha research.”

Tyrell Adrian and Martin Lennox said nothing.
But their expressions no longer looked ugly.
Clearly, they acknowledged Julian’s ability too.
R, however, had just removed the main cannon chip and was rereading its data.
She shook her head.
“You’re all wrong. I didn’t bring him to the battlefield because he’s exceptional. I brought him because he reminds me too much of myself back then.”
She looked out through the viewport toward the distant stars.

Chapter 142-Gen 2 Mechas
For a mument, her thoughts seemed to fly back more than a century.
She saw a starship surrounded layer after layer by insectoids.
Saw its energy net about to run dry.
Saw mecha soldiers charging forward one after another to protect the researchers, fighting without regard for their own lives, then dying one by one.
And she saw herself.
A self who had once cared only about research, never cared whether others lived or died, and never fit in with anyone around her.
Inside Gaia’s command room, an ice-blue narcissus bloomed in Helen Rockefeller’s palm.
Rich healing psychic power poured continuously into General Marston’s psychic sea, filling the crack left behind when the Demonflower Blood Mantis shattered his spirit form.
“Lord Helen, how is he? Can the General’s psychic sea be fully healed?”
Jonah Keller, General Marston’s adjutant, asked anxiously.
“The Demonflower Blood Mantis didn’t damage my uncle’s psychic-sea foundation, but this crack is too large. If we want to repair it completely, he must immediately withdraw Emberwing and enter temporary deep sleep.”
Emberwing was the name of General Marston’s spirit form.
“General?”
Jonah immediately looked to his superior.
The cold-faced general, with his high nose bridge and jaw clenched tight as a drawn bow, shook his head.
His voice was low and cold.
“If Emberwing withdraws, Sultan and Uras won’t be able to stop the Demonflower Blopti Mantis.”
“Father, don’t we still have Colonel Caleb Hayes from the Second Legion? If he joins the fight, three 25 fighters should be able to hold it off for a while.”
Caelan Rookwood offered his suggestion from the side.
“Have Colonel Hayes come?” Marston said. “Leaving aside how much your Sultan can do without resonance with me, the Second Legion only sent one regiment this time. Their assigned duty is protecting all scientific personnel.”
Marston’s meaning was simple.
At the start of the year, the Second and Third Legions had defended the front with the Fifth Legion.
And they had not faced only one Demonflower Blood Mantis.

They had faced the insectoid queen and three 35 royal insectoids under her.
In that crisis, Third Legion General Rowan Ashford died in battle. The Fifth Legion’s old General Andrew Holt also died. Orion Ashford, a born 35, was crippled.
