Chapter 306 The Terrifying Skill of Being Good

“Julian may not accept me as his brother,” Adrian said, each word steady, “but in my heart, he will always be my younger brother. He is a Beta, so if you ever hurt him, the law may not call it a crime. But I will. And if that day comes, I, Adrian Whitmore, will make you pay for it.”

Orion listened without anger.

There was even a faint smile in his deep eyes.

“I know.”

Adrian’s expression tightened.

Orion said, “Back then, Julian only gave you one uncertain sentence, and you were still willing to give up your original rank and transfer under my command. That was enough for me to understand.”

Adrian froze for a moment.

Yes.

At the time, Orion had asked him many questions.

“I will not make vows to you,” Orion continued. “No matter how beautiful a promise sounds, time can turn it thin and powerless.”

His gaze rested on Adrian.

Yet somehow, it seemed to pass beyond him, toward Julian, who was still inside the testing room.

“But I can tell you this honestly. Julian is the only person who has ever moved my heart. I fell for him at first sight, and I will love him for the rest of my life. I love him more than I love myself.”

Adrian went quiet.

He was an Alpha too.

He knew better than most how Alphas expressed affection.

Primitive.

Direct.

Possessive.

Sometimes almost beastlike.

To put it bluntly, the brain often arrived late.

But Orion was different.

There was restraint in his tenderness.

There was respect in his possessiveness.

That kind of Alpha was rare.

Adrian could not do it himself.

He had never met another Alpha who could either.

“There is also something else,” Orion said. “When I approved your transfer, it was not only because of Julian When I made an exception and let you bring Leon Rowe and the others with you, it was not because I wanted to shut your mouth and stop you from criticizing me.”

The testing room door opened.

Before Orion stepped forward to meet his little robot, he left Adrian with one last sentence.

“I appreciated you. Rowan, Caleb Hayes, Laurie Rick, Zoya Vance, and the others all thought highly of you too. You earned the approval of my entire team first. That was why you received the transfer, and why you were allowed to bring your people.”

Adrian stood there without moving.

“The Second and Third Legions are fair,” Orion said. “So, Adrian Whitmore, you are strong. Do not look down on yourself.”

Adrian: “…”

A hopeless smile slowly appeared on his face.

He took back what he had thought earlier.

Orion was not simply terrifying.

He was terrifying on top of terrifying, then stacked with another layer of terrifying.

The imperial genetic testing center worked with frightening speed.

Not long after Julian left the testing room, all the results were posted on the official site.

Before this, some people had still doubted Sylvia Whitmore’s report.

They thought Sebastian Whitmore could not possibly be bold enough to cheat during an AO marriage, father a child outside the marriage, and then switch that child into his legal family.

Some parents discovered that the child they had raised for years had no blood connection to them at all.

For a while, countless families collapsed into arguments day and night.

If the star police had not prepared in advance and rushed in to mediate as soon as trouble appeared, there might have been more than one bloody incident.

In short, Sebastian Whitmore had strapped the entire Whitmore family to a rocket and launched them from “somewhat famous” to “known by the entire Empire.”

Under Rowan’s deliberate push, the battlefield kept expanding.

Soon, the focus shifted from Sebastian to Old Mr. Gideon Whitmore, and then to Victor Whitmore, the eldest son.

[Wait. According to the disclosed case details, Sebastian was the one who switched the babies. But after that, Julian was sent away, Elias was raised in the family, and later the real-heir/fake-heir issue spread inside a small circle. Are we really supposed to believe Gideon and Victor knew nothing?]

[The more I think about it, the scarier it gets. Judging from their reactions, they definitely knew something.]

[They traded an ordinary Beta baby for a gifted Omega. Both boys were Sebastian’s sons. Both had Whitmore blood. Of course the family accepted it happily-]

Three days later, at nine in the morning, Gideon Whitmore, one of the Five Speakers of the Council and head of the Whitmore family, held a press conference.

At the conference, he announced his resignation.

He also publicly apologized for the evil acts committed by his second son, Sebastian Whitmore.

Victor kept his council seat, but he was quickly pushed away from the center of power.

He had once held real authority.

Now he could only sit on the cold bench and catch his breath.

As for the many Whitmore businesses that had crumbled under public anger, the family had no choice but to sell them cheaply while they still had some value left.
