Chapter 328 Southgate
Under countless prayers, blessings, and watchful eyes, that line shone.
Thanks to the immense distance between the three war zones and the human living zones, even if the insectoid tide that had broken through the Central Defense Line advanced at full speed, the earliest it could reach the outer defense-line was three days later.
Humanity still had time.
It should.
“What exactly does Orion mean? Rowan keeps dodging the question, and even now he has not given a dear answer.”
“No idea. We definitely cannot hold the outer star zone alone. Without the Starlit Silver Wolf, forget fighting two royal insectoids. We cannot even stall them.”
“Isn’t Julian at the front too? Is Orion not even going to care about his wife?”
The garrison generals spoke over one another.
They were not complaining about Orion, nor accusing him.
They simply knew very well that this defensive battle could not happen without Orion.
In the past, they would have said without hesitation that Orion would come.
Orion was a saint.
There was no way he would ignore a defense line.
But now?
At this point, it was already polite that they were not calling him a toxic Alpha, a bandit, and a rule-breaker.
Could they pressure Orion?
Forget it.
And Orion, the man being waited for by Finance Minister Olyan, Major General Louis Nolan of the First Legion, and all those garrison generals?
He packaged every strategic file and sent it to Rowan through encrypted mail at dawn.
The files included his projections of the insectoids’ attack route, his estimate of their true objective, and even fragments describing the real future of his previous life.
“Meow!”
Greedy Wolf appeared with a cute meow.

Chapter 328 Southgate
It carried its master silently and at the fastest speed toward the newly built hyperjump star gate.
In deep space, the giant black cat stood like a fortress.
Not far from it was the top-level hyperjump star gate personally designed by Dr. R and jointly.built by the White Tower’s greatest teams.
Dr. R called it the Empire’s greatest star gate.
Southgate.
Unlike other ring-shaped hyperjump gates, Southgate was directly attached to the surface of a white dwarf, like a star-bright mirror set into the star.
Its mirror surface was pieced together from countless dark hexagonal crystal plates.
Every plate precisely reflected the star’s intense light and the inverted image of the galaxy.
Quiet.
Solemn.
Magnificent.
It was silent proof of humanity’s journey through the endless universe, from awe, to understanding, to application, and finally to control.
Orion opened his terminal and activated his clearance.
Under the highest authority command, Southgate began warming up.
Countless translucent energy restraints extended from the mirror’s edges like precise tentacles of light, sinking deep into the star’s material jet and drawing energy from it.
Endless ripples began spreading from the mirror’s center.
That was the sign that Southgate was connecting to the designated star gate and building a jump corridor for the user.
Once countless cold-white veins of light lit from the center, Orion would pilot Greedy Wolf through the gate and cross the endless star sea with it.
“Meow!”
Reckless to the point of asking for death.
“Boss, what a grand display of authority. What, only you get to set the fire, and the rest of us commoners cannot even light a candle?”
Who else could be that shameless, that reckless, besides Caleb Hayes?
Orion did not even have time to scold Caleb before another voice joined the channel.
“Boss, Little Gentleman saved my big mammoth’s life. Without him, I would have died a long time ago. My big mammoth does not have much else, but it has loyalty. You know that.”
Compared with Caleb’s sarcasm and slick tongue, Laurie Rick always expressed himself plainly.
He could die generously for Orion, his good boss.
He could also rush forward without hesitation for Julian, his savior.
“Last time, and the time before that, all of them got to show off while I stayed in the back every single time. Boss, if you still do not bring me this time, I am going to report you to the military for sexism.”

Zoya Vance sneered in the channel.
Her words were full of complaints, but the sincerity inside them was almost overflowing.
Everyone was going.
So she was going too.
They were family.
The brothers were.
Little Gentleman was too.
