Outcast Queen: Her Return from Hell novel Chapter 220

Phoenix stopped typing. Her fingers hovered over the keys, the harsh glow of the screen reflecting the dangerous, icy smirk on her face.

"Warren... I have to wonder if you really are this heartless. You'd willingly sentence your biological daughter to death just to pave the way for an adopted fake?"

Her voice dripped with absolute zero hostility. "Or... is there some dark secret hiding beneath all of this?"

Ultimately, whatever twisted logic Warren used to justify his actions didn't matter anymore.

The moment she was thrown into that prison cell, every last shred of familial loyalty had been permanently severed.

She had returned for one reason: vengeance.

Right now, Phoebe was teetering on the edge of the cliff. All it would take was a gentle push to send her plummeting into the abyss. When that happened, she would make sure the Prescotts got a front-row seat to witness just how stupid, greedy, and utterly repulsive their precious adopted daughter truly was.

...

Pulling herself out of her thoughts, Phoenix stretched her stiff back. Glancing at the wall clock, she realized it was past three in the morning.

She had been so focused on making Pierce that pasta earlier that she had completely neglected her own stomach, which was now loudly demanding attention. With a sigh, she got out of bed and headed to the kitchen for a midnight snack.

"Huh? Did Pierce leave?"

Passing the entryway, she noticed his dress shoes were gone. He had clearly left the house in the middle of the night.

She didn't think much of it. Given his status, dealing with midnight emergencies was par for the course.

However, when she stepped into the dining room to scavenge for ingredients, she froze.

Lined up perfectly on the dining table were several exquisite takeout boxes from a high-end restaurant.

Phoenix blinked in surprise. She lightly touched the edge of a container—it was still warm.

A sudden rush of warmth flooded her chest. Did Pierce deliberately order this for her? But how could he possibly know she would wake up at this ungodly hour looking for food?

The ruthless man everyone called the Reaper had once again shown her an unexpected, meticulous kind of care.

Not one to waste good food, Phoenix pulled up a chair and dug in.

The food was still fresh and tasted incredible, clearly delivered just moments before she walked out.

Eating this feast in the quiet of the night brought her an immense sense of satisfaction.

After finishing her meal and returning to her room, she inexplicably grabbed her phone right before getting into bed and shot Pierce a quick text.

'Thanks for the food, darling.'

"Oh? And what might that be?" Silas raised an eyebrow, feigning ignorance.

Pierce looked down, his long fingers casually tracing the edges of The Celestial ring on his hand. When he finally spoke, his voice was freezing. "I recall you used to have a driver named Sully Yates, correct?"

Silas's pupils constricted violently. He found out!

This sudden ambush was meant to catch him off guard and force him into making a mistake.

But Silas was a seasoned veteran of corporate warfare; he wasn't going to be intimidated by his nephew so easily. He immediately put on a mask of deep sorrow. "I did. It's such a tragedy. Sully worked himself to the bone and passed away from sudden cardiac arrest."

"I grieved for him for quite some time. After all, he was an incredibly reliable driver."

"Cardiac arrest?"

Pierce slowly lifted his gaze, his piercing eyes looking as though they could slice right through his uncle's facade. "Then how is it that your 'dead' driver is currently breathing perfectly fine?"

"That... that's impossible!" Silas shot up from his seat, his face a perfect picture of shock and disbelief. "Sully took his last breath right in front of me. How could he possibly be alive? Pierce, you must be mistaken!"

Pierce narrowed his eyes, analyzing the older man. He had to admit, his uncle's acting was Oscar-worthy. If he didn't already have the proof, he might have actually believed the lie.

"Perhaps," Pierce let out a low scoff. He stood up, his tone laced with dark amusement. "I was wondering the same thing. How does a dead man come back to life? Unless... someone faked his death to cover up their dirty work."
