Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 153

When it was time to get off work, Verian saw a black Maybach parked nearby as she walked out of Yash Company.

She trotted over. When she got into the car, she smiled and asked Heaton, "You don't really have to pick me up after work every day, do you?"

Kush, who was driving, glanced at them in the rear-view mirror and joked, "Ms. Monty, don't worry about that. We only drop by. Drop by!"

Kush deliberately emphasized the word 'drop by' and mentioned it twice, causing Verian to raise her hand to cover the smile on her lips.

When Heaton turned his eyes to look back at her, he happened to see the bracelet on her wrist. His black eyes shrank slightly, as he grabbed her wrist and asked coldly, "Who gave you this bracelet?"

Seeing his big reaction, Verian quickly explained, "Oh, President Quain asked me to draw a draft of this prototype. I was afraid of losing it, so I left it on my wrist. I have to rush the drawing of the draft when I get back tonight."

Heaton's black eyes stared at her deeply and coldly. His gaze looked as if he wanted to see through her eyes.

Verian was puzzled. "Heaton, what's the matter with you? Is there a problem with this bracelet?"

The man's face was sullen, and his big hand that grabbed her wrist with greater force. Verian frowned in pain. "Heaton, you're hurting me."

Heaton examined her for a long time before slowly loosening her wrist. He pursed his lips as he said, "No problem."

However, why did his face suddenly become so icy?

Verian changed the topic by asking, "By the way, are we moving to our new home tonight?"

Heaton only answered her with an indifferent 'hm' sound. He did not say much.

Upon arriving at the Shallow Bay villa area, the black Maybach drove all the way into the mansion. When they arrived at the door of the new home, Heaton had no intention of getting out of the car.

"The gate’s password is Little Jelly Bean's birthday."

Verian was shocked. "Aren't you going in with me?"

The man's face was cold, and his voice was mostly emotionless. "I still have some business affairs to deal with. Little Jelly Bean has been taken to the Fudd Family Mansion for dinner by the old man. Don't wait for her."

Verian hesitated and asked, "Then, are you coming back for dinner tonight?"

"Don't wait for me."

Verian made a lonely 'oh' sound. After getting off the car, the black Maybach went straight out of the villa area without stopping.

...

In the black Maybach, Kush asked quizzically, "Boss, what business affairs do you have to deal with?"

Why didn't he know that Heaton still had unfinished business affairs tonight?

"Go to the Blue Bay Residence."

Blue Bay Residence was the residence of Ms. Lain Heidy.

Kush did not dare to ask more. He could only follow the order and drive to the Blue Bay Residence.

...

After arriving at the Blue Bay Residence, Heaton entered Lain's house. Lain poured him some water as she said, "I went to see uncle during the day. I heard from your uncle that you're going to move out with Ms. Monty and Little Jelly Bean?"

"Is there a problem?"

Lain froze for a while and handed him the water. "Of course not. I'm merely concerned about you. But, Heaton, are you really planning on marrying Ms. Mont? Didn't you say that you will never get married in this life?"

Heaton's eyes remained calm and no strange emotions could be seen from his eyes. "She's Little Jelly Bean's mother. Naturally, I can marry her."

Lain's back stiffened, and she frowned. "You just want to marry her because she's Little Jelly Bean's biological mother? Heaton, it's too sloppy if you go ahead with this..."

Before Lain could finish speaking, Heaton interrupted her directly. "I feel at ease when I'm with her."

"What you mean is that it will help your recovery if you're together with Verian?"

Heaton did not answer her but stated, "I'm here to get the medicine."

The man's indifference made her a little uncomfortable, but she still said softly, "Okay, I'll get it for you."

Lain had prescribed an amount of medicine that could last for half a month for Heaton, but she deliberately took out half of them.

When she came out with the medicine and handed it to Heaton, Heaton frowned. "Why so little?"

"In the past three years, your condition has hardly relapsed. Thus, from now on, I won't give you half a month's amount. You finish the medicine in one week and come back to me every week to see how good the effect is. If it's good, you won't have to take the medicine in the future."

Moreover, he picked her up after work tonight, but he acted so indifferent toward her. Was it because of the bracelet?

Verian raised her eyes and looked at the bracelet which she set aside.

As she was randomly pondering on it, the sound of a car engine could be heard downstairs.

She quickly got up. She did not have time to put on her slippers, so she ran out of the master bedroom with her bare feet and ran downstairs.

When Heaton entered the door, Verian threw herself into his arms.

The man frowned. "Why are you in such a panic?"

Verian looked at him straight with her watery eyes. She said softly, "I'm in a hurry to come out to welcome you."

Heaton's frowning eyebrows slightly loosened.

He stared at her watery eyes for a long time. In her clear moist eyes, there was no concealment or deception in it. He sighed slightly. Perhaps he was just being suspicious.

Verian smelled the light and aromatic wine fragrance on his body and frowned. "Did you drink?"

"Hm, I drank a little."

"Then, I'll make you some honey lemon drink. It's very good for a hangover. Every time my dad came home from a social engagement, I'd make this for him. You won't feel uncomfortable anymore after drinking a cup of it."

She turned around and headed into the kitchen. However, the man who was behind her carried her up.

Verian was unprepared and softly yelled, "What are you doing? You drank and hugged me... We might fall easily..."

In fact, Heaton was very sober. Two glasses of brandy was not enough to make him drunk.

Heaton's scorching gaze fell onto Verian's bare feet, and he frowned again. "Why are you not wearing shoes?"

Verian was afraid that he could not hold her firmly, so she embraced his neck tightly with both arms. "I came down when I heard the sound of the car, so I didn't have time to wear shoes."

It was probably because he was drinking that his cold eyes burned even more intensely when he stared at her. This made her blush.

"Why are you looking at me like this?"
