Florian looked away. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Scarlett didn't know what she was saying. She couldn't know.

Because she didn't know what Heinz had done—the full extent of it.

She empathized with Heinz because she saw a reflection of herself in him.

Because she had once been prideful.

Because she had once hurt Athena without meaning to.

But Scarlett… Scarlett was no murderer.

She was no tyrant.

She had no kingdoms' worth of blood on her hands.

And she realized her mistakes on her own—without needing divine intervention.

Or a second chance at time

Or someone dying for her to change.

Heinz was nothing like that.

Heinz was still lying to Florian.

Heinz was the reason the original Florian had become borderline suicidal—driven to desperation so deep he tried to self-abort.

Heinz was the reason Florian suffered in two lifetimes.

Heinz was the reason every bad thing spiraled the way it had.

And Heinz only felt remorse when he was certain he was the one fully in the wrong.

Only then did he bend.Only then did he kneel.

The audacity—

the audacity—to confess to him now, knowing the original Florian still existed inside this body…knowing what the original had endured…and still hating him, still blaming him for "betraying" him.

All because Heinz's ego couldn't tolerate the idea of the original Florian turning to Hendrix—after every betrayal Heinz committed first.

Florian's jaw tensed.

"I know that look."

Scarlett's voice snapped him out of the thoughts spiraling like black ink. She rolled her eyes in that dramatic, playful way only she could pull off.

"Huh?" Florian blinked. "What look?"

"Your stubborn look." Scarlett wiggled her finger at him as if pointing out the most obvious thing in the world. "That look you get whenever you think someone is wrong—and you're already planning in your head how you're going to verbally destroy them."

Athena let out a quiet laugh behind her hand.

Florian stared at Scarlett, caught between exasperation and disbelief.

Scarlett shrugged, smirking knowingly. "I know that look a little too well. I used to get it every time someone, you, told me to apologize to Athena."

Athena nodded her head, almost timidly but with a teasing glint in her eyes. "Yeah… that's a common facial expression you do."

"See?" Scarlett puffed out her chest, smug as ever. "It's exactly the same face. Stubborn, righteous, and so offended you practically sparkle with indignation."

Florian sighed.

'I am not sparkling with indignation. I am sparkling with trauma and fury.'

But he didn't say that.

He just exhaled slowly, dragging his fingers through his hair, rubbing at his temples as if he could massage the frustration out of his skull.

Because no matter how hard Scarlett tried to understand—she didn't know.

She couldn't know.

And Florian wasn't even sure he wanted anyone to know. Not the whole truth. Not the ugly parts. Not the secrets that shredded him every time he remembered them.

So he took another deep breath, hoping it would fill the hollowness in his chest.

'I came here to relax… not get lectured like some tragic main character.'

That was the original Florian.

'I need to change the topic before they drag me back into my emotional woes.'

But change it to what?

Every thought in his head led straight back to Heinz, or Scarlett's very-wrong analysis, or Elara's far-too-accurate advice…

Wait.

Elara.

Her words flickered in his mind again.

And suddenly Florian straightened.

"Oh!" he blurted, startling the two princesses. "Before I forget—I actually came here to ask you both something."

Scarlett narrowed her eyes, sensing the deflection instantly. "Don't change the topi—"

But Florian raised his voice first.

"Do you both want to go on a trip with me?"

Scarlett froze mid-sentence.

Athena's eyes widened, soft and surprised. "A… trip?"

"What kind of trip?" Scarlett asked, suspicious but clearly intrigued—curiosity winning over indignation exactly as Florian expected.

A small triumphant smile tugged at his lips.

'Got ya.'

"Well," Florian began, folding his hands behind his back and trying to look casual, "Duke Elara—I'm sure you both know her—is assigning me a task that requires me to visit her dukedom for four days."

He watched their reactions closely.

Scarlett leaned forward.

Athena tilted her head prettily.

Florian continued, "Her older brother will be hosting, and she said I can bring as many people as I want. So I figured… why not bring you two?"

Scarlett lit up instantly, her mouth dropping open in a delighted gasp.

Athena's smile grew warm and tentative.
