"Here we are."
Tang Yue’s eyes flickered, and before Tang Zhengde entered the house, she quietly asked, "Dad, you didn’t argue with Mom, did you?"
Tang Yue looked at Tang Zhengde with surprise.
"Xiao Yue, um..." Tang Zhengde didn’t know what to say, so he changed the subject and said, "We just had a bit of a misunderstanding, I’m going to find your mom."
Tang Zhengde walked into the house and saw Zhang Hualian smiling radiantly as she talked to Lian He, holding a plate of dumplings as she ate and said, "You should really take care of yourself."
"This is Xiao Yue’s home, your own daughter’s place. No matter how long you stay, they won’t mind."
Zhang Hualian’s words brought a smile to Lian He’s face. He said, "Hualian, I still have to thank you, thank you for giving me two such excellent children."
After speaking, Lian He saw Tang Zhengde and said excitedly, "Zhengde, I must thank you, thank you for raising Xiao Yue so well."
Lian He looked at Tang Zhengde with sincerity and gratitude. If it weren’t for Tang Zhengde, it was uncertain whether Tang Yue and her mother could have survived in those tough times.
"They are my wife and daughter, it’s my duty to take care of them." Tang Zhengde said, his eyes subtly glancing at Zhang Hualian.
Tang Zhengde enthusiastically chatted with Lian He, and only when Lian He went to rest did Zhang Hualian begin heading back to her room for a rest, followed closely by Tang Zhengde, who shamelessly tagged along.
"You sleep here; I’m going to sleep with Chenchen." As soon as Zhang Hualian spoke, Tang Zhengde embraced her, not letting her leave, and said, "Hualian, it’s my petty mindedness, my jealousy, it’s my fault."
Tang Zhengde admitted his mistake in a low voice.
Zhang Hualian sat at the edge of the bed, ignoring him.
Tang Zhengde continued to admit his mistake, "I just, just suddenly discovered that Lian He and Xiao Yue had reunited, so I became anxious, I care too much about you, Hualian, we’ve been together for so many years, I absolutely trust you, don’t you know what kind of person I am?"
"Hmph." Zhang Hualian ignored him because she knew exactly what kind of person Tang Zhengde was, leaving her helpless. At this age, he was still jealous; if Xiao Yue found out, wouldn’t that be embarrassing?
"Hualian, I feel that Lian He recuperating at Xiao Yue’s house is nice, perfect for fostering their father-daughter relationship." Tang Zhengde said, stealthily observing Zhang Hualian’s expression, and continued, "With New Year approaching, shouldn’t we buy some goods and send them back?"
"My mom and your mom’s health isn’t great, they can’t handle travelling back and forth." Tang Zhengde diverted the conversation, successfully getting Zhang Hualian to say, "I’ve thought it over; this year we’re going back home for New Year, Xiao Yang and Xiao Yang’s dad will likely stay here for the holidays."
"No way, Xiao Yue and her dad just reunited for the first New Year holiday, how can you not be here?" Tang Zhengde refused without thinking, saying, "How about we go back home after the New Year, during Zheng Yue?"
Tang Zhengde was very thoughtful; Xiao Yue and Lian He’s reunion is significant; it’s hard-won. This first New Year holiday can’t be lacking a mom with just a dad, right?
Tang Yue was worried if Tang Zhengde and Zhang Hualian might have a falling out, yet the next day Tang Zhengde went out happily.
"Mom, what happened yesterday?"
