Jin Yan paused for a moment and said, "I’ve just come back from a business trip, and my parents..."
Before Jin Yan could finish, she received several calls in succession from Dad Jin, Mrs. Jin, and Grandpa Jin. They had things to do today and had to work overtime, so they couldn’t come back.
"Even heaven is helping me." Lian Qingyang happily hugged Jin Yan and urged, "Go take a shower and change your clothes. We’ll go have dinner later."
"Okay."
Jin Yan no longer refused, clutching her rapidly beating heart as she went upstairs to shower.
Lian Qingyang sat in the living room downstairs, phone in hand, and called Tang Yue. Once the call connected, he happily said, "Sis, I’m getting married."
"Ah..." Tang Yue was drinking tea and was caught off guard by Lian Qingyang’s words, thinking she had misheard.
"I proposed to Jin, and we’re getting our marriage license tomorrow." Lian Qingyang’s excited voice came from the other end of the call.
"You’re moving too fast."
Tang Yue was thinking about previously discussing engagement plans with Lian He, and now they’re directly getting married?
"When are you coming back? We can talk more in person." Tang Yue had a lot on her mind, but some things are better said face-to-face.
"Come back soon." Tang Yue reminded him.
"I’m meeting Jin for dinner tonight. We’ll talk more when I get back later."
After finishing the call with Tang Yue, Lian Qingyang called Lian He.
Tang Yue was about to talk to Lian He about this matter when Lian He answered the call, hearing that Lian Qingyang was getting married. He said, "Xiao Yang, I’m happy you’re getting married, but getting the marriage license is a big deal. You should choose an auspicious day for it. Also, you can’t quietly get the license; meet with the Jin Family first, then pick a good day to get the license and have a meal together."
"Ah..." Lian Qingyang’s high spirits were somewhat dampened; he planned to get the license tomorrow.
No one knows their child better than the father; of course, Lian He knew what Lian Qingyang had in mind. He reminded him, "You can’t just quietly whisk away their daughter, right? This is showing respect for the Jin Family."
"Okay."
Lian Qingyang replied, feeling that his father was right; he couldn’t quietly get the license.
Lian He continued, "Talk to the Jin Family today. No, first let Jin Yan talk to her family. We’ll pick a good day and pay them a visit."
"Dad, you always think things through." Lian Qingyang’s excitement gradually calmed down; he wanted to give Jin the best and couldn’t quietly get the marriage license and risk others speaking poorly of Jin.
In the evening, Lian Qingyang and Jin Yan enjoyed a romantic dinner together. Lian Qingyang discussed picking a day to visit the Jin Family.
Reluctantly, Lian Qingyang sent Jin Yan home and then returned to Tang Yue’s house.
The house was brightly lit, as everyone was waiting for Lian Qingyang to come back after those two phone calls.
Upon entering, the happiness emanating from Lian Qingyang made it clear to everyone that he was truly joyful.
"Will Aunt buy me dolls?" Chenchen’s sparkling eyes were gleaming.
"The dolls at home can barely be contained." Tang Yue resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Not only were there dolls bought by her and Meng Siyu, but she had handmade many. Plus, Uncle Lian Qingyang, as well as Tang Jun, Tang Mingli, and Aunt Lian Tong, have brought plenty. Saying they fill a room isn’t an exaggeration.
Yet Chenchen’s mind was always filled with thoughts of dolls.
Tang Yue couldn’t help but glance at Zaozao, who was busily flipping through an English book, completely different from Chenchen.
"You two should go to bed." Tang Yue reminded them as it was already late when Lian Qingyang returned.
"Mom, just a bit longer," Chenchen begged.
Tang Yue kept a stern face, and Chenchen reluctantly returned to her room to rest. Zaozao put down her book and obediently went to bed.
Later that night, Lian Qingyang received a call from Jin Yan saying they’ve agreed on visiting the Jin Family three days later, on Saturday.
Zhang Hualian, with this being the first time she’ll officially meet her daughter-in-law, was already thinking about what gifts to bring. She even asked when Old Sir Lian would arrive. After this discussion, it was already past eleven at night when Tang Yue returned to her bedroom.
On the spacious bed, Zaozao and Chenchen were curled up together, occupying only a third of it.
Usually, when Meng Siyu wasn’t home, the two little ones would like to snuggle with Tang Yue in bed.
With both sides of the bed suspended, Zaozao slept on the outside, Chenchen in the middle, and Tang Yue on the edge. She gently took off her clothes, careful not to wake them, and lay down, listening to their even breathing but unable to fall asleep herself.
