"Mm, it doesn’t hurt anymore." Si Yu looked at his daughter lovingly, held Chenchen’s hand and said, "Chenchen, where’s the painting you made for Daddy?"
"I didn’t bring it." Chenchen lowered her head. She had left in such a hurry that she forgot to bring it.
"Grandma, I want to paint." Chenchen turned and ran over to Zhang Hualian.
Nearby, Zaozao took a painting out of his small backpack.
Chenchen, who had just been pouting, immediately broke into a smile and said, "Brother is so nice."
Chenchen excitedly took the painting and placed it in front of Si Yu.
In the golden sunlight, a family of four held hands: a man in a white shirt, a woman in a white dress, holding two children of the same height, one with pigtails and the other a short-haired boy. It was a painting of their family of four.
The painting skills were immature, but it was full of childlike charm.
"My Chenchen’s painting is wonderful." Si Yu praised. It was the best painting he had ever seen.
"Daddy, I’m the best." Chenchen said proudly.
Zaozao stood quietly by Si Yu’s hospital bed, well-behaved and calm. Compared to the lively Chenchen, Zaozao’s presence was less noticeable.
Zhang Hualian listened to Tang Yue talking about Si Yu’s affairs in Jiang City, and she was also frightened. If anything really happened to this son-in-law, what would Xiao Yue and the two children do?
Since Si Yu often had accidents, Zhang Hualian and Mo Xiaolin later specifically went to a temple to ask for a peace charm for Si Yu. Of course, that’s another story.
Zhang Hualian casually said a few words, and then took the opportunity, while Tang Yue went home to get some clothes, to talk to her.
Tang Yue was packing clothes in the room, including Si Yu’s. The toiletries, towels, and such small things; although they were sold near the hospital, Tang Yue was still used to using her own.
"Xiao Yue." Zhang Hualian didn’t quite know how to start.
Tang Yue was bustling about, and only when she realized her mother’s intention did she smile gently, put the things aside on the couch, and said, "Mom, did I worry you?"
"Yes." Zhang Hualian nodded, placing a hand on her chest with lingering fear, "I haven’t even been to the scene, but I already feel a lingering fear. You know... what if, what if..."
Though she didn’t finish, her meaning was clear.
Tang Yue held Zhang Hualian’s hand, finding it cold, and reassured her, "Mom, it’s okay now. As long as Si Yu rests well, his leg will be alright."
"I know you’re worried about Si Yu; it’s very dangerous. But, Mom, tell me, what thing isn’t dangerous?" Tang Yue asked in return.
Zhang Hualian had many things to say, but Tang Yue added, "No matter what profession it is, there’s no absolute safety. If something is really going to happen, it could still happen even walking on the main road."
"How can you compare them?" Zhang Hualian disagreed with Tang Yue’s words.
"It’s alright, let her enjoy the candy." Tang Yue smiled and asked, "How about your house? Did you manage to buy it?"
"We did." Sun Qing felt very emotional mentioning it—buying a house in Jing City was something she never dared to dream of before. If it weren’t for Teacher Mei recommending her to work under Tang Yue, she might never have thought about buying a house in Jing City in her lifetime, let alone allow her parents to come spend some time in Jing City.
If it weren’t for her parents being unwilling to live in Jing City, Sun Qing would have wanted them to come and stay permanently.
"Will your in-laws come to stay?" Tang Yue asked.
"They did last time, but now they’ve gone back home. They can’t leave the crops in the fields." Sun Qing felt lucky to have married Zhao Xiangqian, as her in-laws were understanding. When she had her child, they didn’t utter a word of complaint or disdain; instead, they comforted her by saying that having a daughter was just as wonderful.
Once she recovered, she definitely wanted to have another child.
"Your in-laws are quite sensible." Tang Yue was gratified to see the look of happiness on Sun Qing’s face. It wasn’t in vain that she helped Zhao Xiang a few times secretly in the past. She asked, "By the way, how is your sister doing?"
"We don’t even know what kind of person she wants, and she just won’t give in," Sun Qing said, feeling vexed just thinking about it. Her sister was beautiful and had many suitors, but Sun Rou never wavered.
Tang Yue gave her a half-smile and said, "Who was it that set such a precedent for your sister? When you married Zhao Xiang, you dragged it out for years. Isn’t your sister just following your footsteps?"
Sun Qing was left speechless, feeling truly frustrated.
