Melvin remained serious. "We're not lost—we're here to see you, Dr. Xavier.”

"See me? Who are you people?" Dr. Xavier frowned slightly.

Melvin placed a document on his desk. "Did you sign this autopsy report? Did you handle it?"

Dr. Xavier opened the file with confusion and pulled out the papers. After just a glance or two, his expression shifted—the name on the autopsy report was Tina Mendes.

He tried to hide the panic in his eyes. "Yes, that's mine. But who exactly are you?"

"Tell me, why didn't you mention Tina’s severe depression in this autopsy report? And why didn't you note the red swelling and bruising on the back of the body? There's not a single word about it in your report," Melvin said coldly.

Dr. Xavier averted his gaze. "This is a restricted area. Please leave."

"Answer me."

"This autopsy report is months old. How could I possibly remember every detail from months ago? Besides, if there were any issues with the body, I would have included them in the report. If it's not mentioned, it means nothing was there. What I'm more curious about is where you got this report. Do you realize this is illegal?" Dr. Xavier replied angrily.

Melvin had no patience for his deflections. "If I'm breaking the law, someone will come arrest me. But you're about to be finished."

"Get out!" Dr. Xavier pointed toward the door. "If you don't leave now, I'm calling security."

Dr. Xavier shook his head mechanically. "I don't know what you're talking about. What real autopsy report? There's no such thing."

Dr. Xavier’s face went pale. How could he forget something like that?

He and his wife had cried themselves to sleep every night over their son's condition. He'd pulled every string he could, but still couldn't find a matching heart for his son.
