After leaving the two-story cottage, the night was already deep. Ping’an walked out the door and instantly spotted the tagalong behind Liu Yi, shaking his head with laughter.
"Little Tangtang, do you want to come home with us?"
"Yes, I don’t like it inside. Liu Yi brother, can you take me back? I’ve already told my big brother that I want to leave with you first."
May 1st glanced sideways at the little girl, tsk tsk... Only his little brother falls for this trick. Meanwhile, he looked at Liu Yi with eyes full of pity, thinking it’s quite tough to be tangled up at such a young age.
The "big brother" the little girl mentioned was Yi Jiefang’s eldest nephew. Hearing this, Liu Yi slightly nodded, "We’ll take you back first, don’t run around here too much next time."
"I’ll listen to Liu Yi brother."
May 1st rolled his eyes to the sky, shook his head silently, and got in the car to start it. Such a good kid, how did she change in an instant?
"Good night, everyone. Goodbye, Liu Yi brother."
Watching the little girl bouncing as she entered the Big Courtyard’s gate, May 1st turned his head to glance again at Liu Yi, who was making a call in the booth, and sighed silently.
Just thinking about the little girl who peed all over him someday becoming his second sister-in-law drains him of energy, feeling like he’s paying for debts from a past life.
Mai Sui leaned against the car window, "The little girl is really cute. She’s so young sneaking out, won’t her parents scold her?"
"Don’t be fooled by her age; she’s very aware of things. She must have known we were coming today. Uncle Da Yi and his wife are too fond of the child to scold her; she’s the only girl in three generations."
"Oh."
May 1st laughed at her, "Oh what? So many guys tonight, didn’t you fancy any? Point one out, I’ll bring him home for you."
Mai Sui was frightened, waving her hands nonstop, "No, I’m from a different world than those people. I don’t want to marry into a high-status family and worry about pleasing my in-laws."
Shi Tou and his wife chuckled.
Zuo Xinyi gave her a pat, "Every time we talk about finding a partner, you act like this. Mom said if no one chooses you by 25, she’ll arrange a match back home."
Mai Sui slapped her forehead, lamenting loudly, "Why must women get married? I can totally support myself, live how I like, why need a man?"
"Haha." Zuo Xinyi was better off not saying she hadn’t met a man who stirred her emotions yet, fearing that once enlightened, nobody could stop the sister-in-law from marrying.
Liu Yi getting back into the car shifted this topic temporarily.
Ping’an looked over at Liu Yi with a grin and asked, "Who was on the phone?"
"Uncle Da Yi."
"What did he say?"
"Asked when dad’s moving back home." Liu Yi said, tugging at his collar, "If my big brother and I aren’t there, you might as well not go, it’s too noisy."
May 1st held the steering wheel with one hand, making an OK sign with the other behind him.
After they finished talking, using the dim streetlights, Mai Sui glanced at Liu Yi, teasingly smiled, "That little girl isn’t your little wife, is she?"
Upon hearing this, Liu Yi’s fingers tapping on his thigh paused, "She’s my mom’s goddaughter, she’s my little sister."
Listening to Liu Yi’s calm voice, Mai Sui replied in disappointment, "What a pity."
She then spotted Ping’an in the passenger seat and perked up, nudging his shoulder, "Tell me, that Mo Xiaobei is quite good, why don’t you fancy her?"
