Nursing Home, Patient Room.
Lin Aidang, who rushed over after work, gently wiped Mrs. Lin’s face and hands with a warm towel.
He had just put down the towel and was planning to massage the old lady when he found his hand tightly grasped by hers.
"Mom, don’t worry. I’ll get you a pen."
With her only functioning hand, Mrs. Lin scrawled on a piece of paper, "Let the second son come back."
Lin Aiguo gently patted the anxious old lady, "Mom, I’ll think of a way to bring my brother’s family back to accompany you. Don’t worry; they’ll be back soon. First, focus on getting better; the doctor said you mustn’t get anxious."
Mrs. Lin wrote again, "When will I get better?"
Lin Aiguo paused and smiled, "The doctor said very soon. The main thing is to keep a happy attitude and not to worry about things. In about half a year, you’ll be able to walk."
"And talk?"
Lin Aiguo smiled, "Very soon, you’ll be able to speak within a year."
Mrs. Lin saw her son bow his head, not daring to look her in the eye. She knew in her heart that he was lying. Could it be that she really couldn’t recover? How could that be?
She reached out her trembling hand to touch her face and found drool again. She closed her eyes heavily.
Lin Aiguo quickly wiped her face with the towel, "Mom, it’s okay. You’ll definitely get better. I’ve already hired an expert. Rest assured, I’ll find someone to cure you."
Mrs. Lin didn’t distrust her son, but she knew his capabilities were limited. If even those Old Russian experts couldn’t cure her, what kind of expert could he know?
Once again, she reached out and wrote, "Let Zheng come over."
Lin Aiguo frowned, "Mom, what else do you want to discuss with my brother-in-law? He’s already introduced some doctors to me. My brother-in-law is busy with meetings every day; even I can’t often meet him. Don’t disturb him without a reason."
Lin Aiguo knew that Zhou Xiaozheng could introduce doctors but would never come to the nursing home himself. He didn’t want to approach him either; after all, his daughter had caused trouble, leaving him unable to speak up.
"He can save me; Jiao has the remedy."
Lin Aiguo looked at his mother in astonishment. Could she really be confused? Zhou Jiao has a remedy? How is that possible? Besides, if Zhou Jiao had a remedy, why not find the eldest sister? Why must she seek Zhou Xiaozheng?
Mrs. Lin was so angry that her face turned red, and she slapped the bed.
"Okay, okay, don’t get excited. I’ll go directly to Zhou Jiao; tomorrow, I’ll ask for leave to go to the Northeast." Before he could finish, he saw the old lady getting even more agitated. He hurriedly patted her back, "Okay, okay, I’ll go find my brother-in-law first. Don’t be anxious."
After a while, Mrs. Lin wrote on the paper, "You don’t go, asking for leave is not good. Let Zhou Xiaozheng send a telegram for Zhou Jiao to bring the remedy to see me. Also, tell Zhou Xiaozheng, if he doesn’t transfer the second son back, I’ll die to show him."
Lin Aiguo waited for her for a long time and finally understood what she meant. He quickly stepped forward, tore the paper into pieces, threw it into the trash can, and, feeling worried, poured water over it.
