The unreliable mom, Jiang Jiangyu, wouldn’t consider herself negligent as a mother. At the moment, she was following behind Mr. Lin, pointing at the shelf in the bedroom.
"Dad, this is a display shelf, right? I’ve heard it’s for putting antiques to show class. Unfortunately, we don’t have much to our name, so the kids are a bit short-changed."
Mr. Lin glanced at her. Her intentions were too obvious. He refused to respond and continued looking through room by room.
Jiang Jiangyu didn’t mind. She didn’t believe that saying more wouldn’t get through to Mr. Lin; after all, it was his eldest grandson. Besides, she wouldn’t take anything back to her own family, and even if she did, her parents wouldn’t accept it.
"Dad, look at this wooden bed, I heard it’s some kind of gilded canopy bed, which only aristocrats could afford in the past. It’s a pity it’s not part of a set. If it were a complete set for the kids, they’d be so proud."
Mr. Lin couldn’t bear it any longer, pointing at the four upright poles on the bed, "You’re aware of the type of wood, right? Don’t listen to nonsense. Even I, a simpleton, can see it’s just an ordinary bed."
Jiang Jiangyu nodded, "If you call yourself a simpleton, Dad, that would make people laugh their teeth out. Maybe we shouldn’t keep it then, it might cause a laugh if someone saw it later."
Lin Aiguo looked at Mr. Lin wordlessly, standing there, unwilling to move. He wished his perceptive nephew would quickly come and take this fool away.
As for his own brother by his side, he’d lost hope in him. Who knows what he’s giggling about. No wonder he spoiled such a troublesome wife.
Lin Aiguo just wanted to go back and ask his wife if their daughter was mistakenly switched with his brother’s child. Why does he increasingly feel like his daughter takes after his sister-in-law?
"Dad, look at this soft couch; is it like mom’s one? Sadly, this one has no fragrance. Even if I wanted to buy it, I couldn’t."
Mr. Lin replied to her, "That one could exchange for your entire courtyard."
Jiang Jiangyu was stunned upon hearing this, and after a while, ran out of the room, following behind Mr. Lin, "Dad, is it true that all fragrant woods are valuable?"
Mr. Lin walked on without turning back, "Ask Lao’er, he knows."
Jiang Jiangyu still followed him, "Okay, I’ll keep you company for a nice stroll first."
Mr. Lin wanted to say, "Go mind your own business, I don’t need your company." But with his eldest son there, he decided not to embarrass Lao’er.
Then, from the East Wing to the west wing, Jiang Jiangyu expressed her dissatisfaction with everything and wanted everything changed. Just when Mr. Lin couldn’t bear it any longer, when he was about to snap.
Lin Dingsheng came out to the rescue with a smiling face.
As soon as he came in, he called out, "Grandpa, you must be exhausted. Let’s head back first, we can visit again when we have time in the future. After all, this is our house, we can come whenever we’d like."
Seeing his smiling eldest grandson, Mr. Lin’s mood lifted. He glanced at the sky outside and nodded with a smile. Indeed, it was getting late.
On the way back, Mr. Lin looked at the night view outside, watching young people hurriedly passing by on the streets, and finally remembered he had a grandson.
He turned his head to look at his eldest son, "Xiao Hui is about to graduate, right? Have you decided where to send him? The child is growing up, but waiting for him to get married and get a house could take forever; shouldn’t you buy a small courtyard?"
Lin Aiguo nodded upon hearing this, "I will consider it."
"Compared to most kids, our kids get married quite late. You should find Xiao Hui a nice wife sooner. Time really flies."
Listening to Mr. Lin’s words, Lin Aiguo stared out the window in a daze for a moment. Time waits for no one, and he was about to become a grandfather.
The three of them fell into silence for a while.
