Chapter 359.
AUTHOR’S POV
The next morning, Ace and Violet walked into the living room together and stopped in their tracks.
Lucian was already there, but that’s not why they stopped.
He sat on the edge of the couch, elbows resting on his knees, hands clasped loosely as if he’d been there for a long time. The curtains were half open, letting in the pale, early light. He hadn’t changed. Same clothes from the night before. Same rigid stillness.
Ace frowned immediately. “You know you haven’t gotten ready.”
Lucian shook his head once. “I know.”
Ace stepped closer, really looking at him now. The faint shadows beneath Lucian’s eyes were impossible to miss. “Did you even get any sleep?”
Lucian didn’t hesitate. “No.”
Violet slowed beside Ace. “None at all?”
Lucian leaned back slightly, exhaling through his nose. “I’ve been thinking.”
Ace crossed his arms. “About what?”
“We’re supposed to go get this evidence today,” Ace added in a practical and grounding tone. “That’s the plan.”
Lucian nodded. “That’s exactly what I’ve been thinking about.”
There was a pause, it was short, but heavy.
“I have a bad feeling about this,” Lucian said finally.
Ace’s brows pulled together. “A bad feeling?”
“Yes.”
Violet exchanged a glance with Ace. “Lucian…”
“That’s why there’s going to be a change in plan.”
Ace straightened. “Change in plan? What do you mean, change in plan?”
Lucian lifted his head, eyes sharp now despite the exhaustion. “We are not going to retrieve the evidence ourselves.”
Violet blinked. “Why?”
“Because we draw attention to ourselves,” Lucian said calmly. “Everywhere we go, we draw attention. And today, attention is the last thing we need.”
Ace shook his head slightly. “So what are you saying?”
”
“We need somebody else to go into that bank,” Lucian continued in a measured and deliberate tone. Somebody who looks normal. Someone who doesn’t raise suspicion. Someone who can walk in and walk out without being remembered.”
Ace narrowed his eyes. “And what if this person can easily be bought off by the enemy?”
Lucian met his gaze without flinching. “That’s why we’ll be using somebody recommended by Damien. One of Damien’s men.”
Silence followed.
Ace dragged a hand down his face. “Are you really sure about this?”
“Absolutely,” Lucian said.
He stood then, pacing slowly in front of them, words gaining momentum. “If we go to the bank ourselves, they‘ Il be waiting. They’ll recognize us. Me. You. Violet. We’re already on too many radars.”

He stopped, turning back to them. “But if a random elderly man walks in there….suit, tie, briefcase, goes to the vault, retrieves what we need, and walks out… he’s just another man doing business at a bank.”
Violet nodded slowly. “I think I see the picture.”
Lucian pointed at her. “Exactly.”
Ace was quiet for a moment, then asked, “And you trust Damien enough to trust his man?”
Lucian didn’t hesitate. “With this? Yes.”
Ace sighed. “I don’t like outsourcing something this important.”
“I don’t either,” Lucian admitted. “But this isn’t about what we like. It’s about what works.”
Violet stepped closer. “So we stay back. Watch from a distance.”
Lucian nodded. “We stay invisible.”
Ace exhaled sharply. “Alright. Then what?”
Lucian reached for his phone. “Then I make a call.”
He stepped away slightly and dialed.
It rang once. Twice.
Damien picked up. “I take it you guys are heading to the bank now.”
“No,” Lucian said. “There’s been a change of plan.”
A pause. “Change of plan?”
“I can’t explain right now,” Lucian added quickly. “But I need somebody you trust. A trusted person. Someone solid.”
Damien didn’t push. He knew Lucian would give him an explanation later. “Alright. What do you need exactly?” “Preferably an elderly man,” Lucian said. “Late sixties, maybe older. Someone who looks forgettable.” Damien hummed thoughtfully. “I think I have just the person for the job.”
Lucian closed his eyes briefly in relief. “I knew you would.”
“I’ll send you his information,” Damien continued. “Everything you need.”
“Thank you so much, D.”
“It’s nothing, Lucius. It’s nothing.”
They hung up.
Lucian lowered the phone just as Ace and Violet stepped closer.
“Well?” Ace asked.
“He’s sending the details.”
As if on cue, Lucian’s phone buzzed.
He looked down at the screen, eyes narrowing with focus. “That’s him.”
Violet leaned in. “So this is really happening.”
Lucian nodded once. “Yes. And if this works… everything changes.”
Ace crossed his arms again, gaze steady. “Then let’s make sure it works.”
About twenty minutes later, they stood a couple of blocks away from the bank.
The morning traffic moved lazily, unaware of how much rested on what was about to happen.
The man Damien had sent stood with them. He was tall despite his age, his posture was straight and his silver
hair was neatly combed back. He wore a muted gray suit that blended seamlessly into the crowd. If you
glanced at him once, you wouldn’t glance again. And that was exactly the point.
Ace stepped behind him, fingers precise as he worked. “Hold still.”

The man chuckled softly. “I’m not going anywhere.”
Ace ignored the joke, lifting the small device. “This earpiece goes in here.” He adjusted it carefully, fitting it snugly into the man’s ear. “It looks like a hearing aid. No one will think twice.”
“I actually wear one sometimes,” the man said easily.
Ace smirked. “Then you’re already ahead.”
Lucian watched closely, arms crossed, jaw tight. Every movement mattered. Every second.
Ace clipped the wire beneath the man’s collar, smoothing the fabric. “You’ll hear us clearly. If anything feels off….anything at all, you say it immediately. No heroics.”
The man nodded. “Understood.”
Violet handed over the briefcase. Her fingers lingered on the handle for half a second before letting go.” Everything you need is in there.”
The man accepted it, testing the weight. “Feels right.”
