We came out here with cargo ships, so we cleared out almost all our firepower to make room for fish. One direct hit and we’re done. Do not come back. If you see a way out, take it.”

Autumn pressed the transmit button with a slow, unhurried ease. “Abandoning teammates when things get rough has never been my style. Find cover, stay quiet, and don’t draw attention. Aurora Base and the shelter have more ships out there, and they’re the bigger target. Wait for an opening.”

She set the radio down and paddled the small boat quietly toward the source of the commotion.
