Leonel went on. “So they decided to use the same trick to rob other groups. It worked pretty well in the early days of the apocalypse. Steven came up with the plan. He used the women and kids in the group to make people feel sorry for them. That trick worked several times.”

“But how did they find us?” Autumn asked.

“Someone from Westfield Town tipped them off,” Leonel replied. “To be exact, Chief Evander told Logan to give the Steel Claws information about us secretly. They heard we had supplies. They had already made a lot by robbing other people, so they couldn’t resist. Now that the cold has frozen every river and lake it’s much easier to travel anywhere. So they came to rob us too.”

Leonel smiled. “They just didn’t expect to pick the wrong target. Autumn, now that we’re enemies with the Steel Claws, we won’t be safe if we leave them alone. Why don’t we wipe them out first?”

Autumn nodded. “You’re right. Instead of waiting for them to attack us again, let’s get our revenge first. When should we move?”

“Tonight,” Leonel said. “The longer we wait, the worse it gets.”

Autumn agreed right away. “How many people should we bring?”

Leonel answered, “20 people. We’ll bring heavy weapons too. That will give us the upper hand. No matter how many they have, they won’t stop our bullets.”

Leonel was right.

Even though Autumn only brought 19 other people, every one of them was a skilled fighter.

The ten men in front carried shoulder-fired rocket launchers and grenade launchers.

Behind them were five people carrying MP5 submachine guns and boxes of ammo.

Following them were four remote-controlled drones loaded with explosives.

At the very back walked Autumn. She had a saber strapped across her back and a Barrett sniper rifle in her hands.

Her job was to finish off any survivors and collect the supplies afterward.

There were only 20 of them, but their fighting power was terrifying.
