Amber wore a haughty expression, acting as if she were precious royalty.
She completely disregarded Elena.
She took a slow sip of tea before speaking. "It's your first day at the Sinclair estate, and not only have you turned the household upside down, but you've also offended the Master!"
Elena knew that while Xavier hadn't said much earlier, he must have sought out Amber afterward.
That was why Amber had called her in for a lecture.
"Do you also think I was in the wrong?"
"Do you think you were justified?" Amber glanced at her.
She didn't like Elena's attitude; there was no respect or fear in it.
"Of course I was justified. If you called me here about the orchard incident, I'd like to ask why you didn't stand by Dylan's side? Instead, you join them in lecturing me?"
"Audacious! You dare question me?"
Elena laughed coldly. Amber's posturing didn't scare her.
"I'm just that kind of person. If someone respects me an inch, I respect them a mile. If someone insults me a little, I return it tenfold! If you have nothing else, I'll be going!"
Elena finished speaking and left without waiting for permission, not looking back.
Amber furiously swept the teacup in front of her onto the floor.
Walking outside, Elena heard the sound of shattering porcelain. She just smiled and walked away.
"Are you okay? What did she want?" Dylan asked anxiously.
"Nothing much, just about the orchard. It seems your mother really doesn't like you."
Dylan's expression grew heavy.
He held Elena's hand tightly. "Yes. In this house, no one has ever defended me. Today was the first time someone stood on my side and spoke for me. Elena, I will never forget it!"
Elena hadn't expected that Dylan, once a titan of the business world, had such a fragile spot in his heart.
All he wanted was care.
But Amber seemed genuinely indifferent to him.
She wondered how he had survived growing up in the Sinclair family.
"Looks like dinner won't be appetizing here. Let's go!"
Dylan took Elena and left the Sinclair estate, skipping dinner.
In the car, Dylan said, "Let's eat out?"
Speak of the devil.
Ben appeared, wearing the suit from his blind date again.
"Elena, I asked Elwood to buy them. I'm going on a date with Elise today!"
Elena: "..."
"Why are you buying lilies for a date?"
"The guys at the construction site told me. They said giving lilies is trendy now. They represent pure love. So, I wanted to buy them for Elise."
Ben looked down shyly as he spoke.
Elwood wiped sweat from his forehead.
"Master Ben, you didn't say that earlier! I thought you were going to pay respects at a grave..."
"Elwood, take these away! Get rid of them!" Elena ordered.
Her foolish big brother had definitely been pranked by those liars at the construction site.
He believed whatever people told him.
"Ben, lilies won't do. Those are for funerals. If you want to give a girl flowers, you give roses. Come on, I'll go with you to buy some!"
