Daniel was speechless.
It seemed he had underestimated his mother's resolve.
"But Elena, with your help, I believe we can bring the company back to life. We'll show your grandmother some real results. After this, they won't dare look down on us anymore!"
"Right. Dad, Ralph should be here any minute. Remember, you have to maintain your authority! Don't let him walk all over you," Elena advised.
Before Lily could even announce him, Ralph stormed into the office.
He was a man in his thirties, arrogant and aggressive.
Rumor had it he was Cathy's boyfriend, and it was solely due to her influence that he had landed the position of Finance Manager.
"Why the hell was I fired?" Ralph demanded the moment he entered, glaring at Daniel.
He acted as if he owned the place.
"Don't you know how to knock? Get out!" Daniel said sternly.
"Mr. Whelan, I want to know why I was fired!"
"He told you to knock. Do you not understand English?" Elena chimed in from the side.
Ralph was fuming, but Daniel remained calm, exuding a newfound sense of command.
Helpless, Ralph turned around, walked out, and knocked on the door heavily.
"If it has nothing to do with you, then get lost! Everyone employed here has a duty to the company's performance. If you claim it's unrelated to you, what right do you have to stay?" Elena said sharply.
Ralph glared at her. "Who the hell are you? You keep interrupting."
Daniel snorted coldly. "This is my daughter. She'll be taking over Finance."
"Oh, so that's it! Mr. Whelan wants to install your daughter, so you’re fabricating reasons to push me out! That's a convenient excuse, isn't it? How do you expect anyone to respect you? If you don't give me a reasonable explanation today, I'm not letting this go!"
Elena let out a dismissive laugh. "Still not convinced? Look at these."
"During your tenure as Finance Manager, there are several accounts that don't add up. You glossed over them carelessly. Furthermore, the General Manager and I were reviewing this year's reports and found your bookkeeping to be a disaster. It's obvious—can't you see it? With this level of incompetence, what gives you the right to be a manager? If you don't get out, who should?"
Ralph glanced at the papers, his face turning red. "This... my subordinates did this! I didn't know!"
