Elena poked her in the head. “I can't just abandon my humble husband.”
“Hahaha!” Bianca couldn't help but laugh.
The President of the Sinclair Group, a 'humble husband' from hard times?
“As long as you enjoyed showing off, that's enough. Don't worry about my business,” Elena said.
“You used to hate it when I acted pretentious. Why did you help me show off this time?”
“You're wrong. I didn't hate you before, and I don't hate you now. Actually, I find you... somewhat cute.”
Elena finished speaking and reached out to pinch Bianca's cheek.
“Elena, you pinched me!” Bianca mumbled.
“Yeah, I pinched you. Who told you to love showing off so much?”
“If you've got guts, don't run. Meet me in the parking lot after school!” Bianca put her hands on her hips.
“The parking lot? Sorry, I'm not into that sort of thing!”
With that, Elena walked away.
Bianca chased after her, and the two of them playfully bickered all the way to the classroom.
Today was a general lecture, and Elena immediately spotted Michelle Turner sitting over there.
She took her book and walked over to her side.
“What's wrong? Something on your mind?” Elena asked.
She noticed Michelle seemed a bit unhappy.
“Elena, since when are you and Bianca so close? I remember you two were enemies before.”
So that was what she was worried about.
“We weren't really enemies before, and we aren't now. Michelle, honestly, Bianca isn't bad at heart. She just likes to show off, but there's a reason for that.”
“I don't care about that. After how she treated you before, you're actually speaking up for her? Do you not want me as a friend anymore?”
Police tape had already been put up, and officers were processing the scene.
After arriving, Dylan asked the police about the situation.
“He died from an overdose of sleeping pills. It looks like suicide. He's been dead for about eight hours. The landlord found him when he came to collect rent today; apparently, he hadn't paid in quite a while,” the officer explained to Dylan.
Dylan didn't get any useful information in the end. After coming out, he instructed Caleb.
“It looks like he was desperate for money. He might have been paid off. Investigate the people he's been in contact with recently.”
“Mr. Sinclair, preliminarily, we can confirm it has nothing to do with Miss Bennett. It must be someone else.”
Dylan rested his arm on the car window, massaging his temple with his fingers. “If it wasn't her, then that's for the best.”
If Isabella had staged the whole thing herself, she would be truly terrifying.
After all, he still had some fond memories of her from their childhood.
“Mr. Sinclair, one more thing. Miss Bennett is in the hospital... she's been demanding to see you.”
