"It's also due to your antidote. After taking it, I realized I have feeling in my hands and feet. They're much more responsive than before."
"That's good!"
Elena took a bite. The taste was average, but it was bought by Claire, so it was full of love.
"Elena!" Claire suddenly walked in.
"Claire."
"Elena, this is for you!"
Claire handed her a thick stack of cash.
"Claire, what is this for?"
"Elena, I made eight hundred extra, so here is five hundred for your living expenses. You've been with us for a while and we haven't given you any money. You definitely need money for life at university!"
Elena’s heart warmed. She saw Claire delivering food today and knew this money didn't come easily.
This was Claire's hard-earned money!
Yet she was giving the majority of it to Elena for living expenses.
"Elena, do you think it's too little? I still have to give three hundred to Mom for household expenses, and Jon is still in school..."
"Claire, that's not what I meant. I have money. I do part-time jobs often and can support myself. Keep this money for yourself!"
"That won't do. You're my sister; I should earn money to support you!"
"Really, no need. You forgot about the Ellington heiress? She's my friend. She introduced me to part-time work. When I met you at the hotel this morning, I was actually there for a job!"
Claire finally believed her. "Alright then. If you need anything, tell me. I'll give this money to Mom for safekeeping!"
"Okay! Keep some for yourself, then give the rest to Mom," Elena said.
Looking at Claire's kind and simple face, Elena felt moved but also a bit heartbroken.
"Elena, your family is really wonderful," Dylan said enviously.
"Yes, I didn't expect them to be this good either."
At dinner, Amanda was very happy and cooked a feast.
Since Dylan could sit up and move his hands, he said he didn't want to lie in bed, so he sat in his wheelchair and joined everyone for the meal.
And the talent wasn't bad.
"Claire, don't be modest. Since you like design so much, why didn't you go to a design school?"
Recalling the past, Claire sighed.
"I like design, but I knew the family couldn't afford it. Chris gave up college for this family. I couldn't be that selfish."
So, Claire had kept her hobby hidden, telling no one.
She just wanted to lighten the burden on the family.
Hearing this, Elena felt her sister was simply too kind.
"Claire, actually, regarding this design... you could add a line here... and this pattern here, I think you could remove it..."
Elena took the sketch and pointed out a few places.
After Claire made the changes, her eyes lit up.
"It really looks much better! Elena, you understand this stuff too?"
