Dylan discovered that this village was actually quite nice. Although it was underdeveloped and the houses were dilapidated, it had an ancient atmosphere and a unique charm.
"This village is really big," Dylan remarked.
In the past, he would have loathed a place like this, hating his family for dumping him here to rot in darkness.
Now, having met Elena, he felt this place was actually wonderful.
"Yeah. Who knows when it will be redeveloped? The higher-ups haven't made any plans," Elena said, walking with him along the country lane.
"Elena, out for a walk?" Martha suddenly asked.
She was planting vegetables in her field.
Elena had been here for a while, and walking through the village every day, she had gradually become familiar with the locals.
Martha's family was in the vegetable business, so every year they grew a lot of produce to sell in the city or deliver to restaurants.
"Yes, Martha. How is business lately?"
"About the same. Won't starve, won't get rich. Oh? This handsome guy beside you looks really good. Is this your fiancé?" Martha asked curiously.
"Yes," Dylan answered before Elena could.
Now Martha was even more curious, her attention fixed on Dylan.
"The young man is so handsome. I didn't expect you to recover. Young man, you really got lucky. If it weren't for Elena, you wouldn't be here today. If you become rich in the future, you can't forget Elena, and you can't forget the Whelan family!" Martha admonished.
The villagers felt that since Dylan was a young master of the Sinclair family, he would return eventually.
When that time came, would he still look at the Whelan family in this poor place?
At this moment, Dylan suddenly took Elena's hand.
"Martha, rest assured. Elena is my savior. I will only love her in this life, and I will never let her down."
Dylan spoke with a beaming smile on his face. He looked truly handsome when he smiled.
Elena, having her hand suddenly grabbed by Dylan, froze for a moment.
His hand was cool, and when he held hers, a strange sensation passed from his palm to hers.
Unknowingly, they walked to the house where Dylan had previously stayed.
Dylan, still holding Elena's hand, suddenly let go.
Elena looked at him and saw him staring at the house, his expression growing solemn.
Perhaps it reminded him of bad memories from the past.
When he was here, his life had been a living hell; even a caregiver could bully him.
"Don't look at it. It's all in the past!" Elena comforted him softly.
But Dylan took the opportunity to reach out and hug her.
"Don't move. Let me hold you for a while."
Elena: "..."
She realized that ever since this guy got better, it was hand-holding one minute and hugging the next. Was he doing this on purpose?
