"Listen up, everyone! I have an announcement," Lorna called out. "This Saturday, I'm inviting all of you over to my house for a huge party!"
The office erupted in excitement.
"Lorna, seriously? We're going to your house?"
"Did I hear that right? You're inviting us over?"
Lorna smiled smugly. "That's right. It's been a while since our department had a get-together. This time, put your wallets away. I'm covering all the expenses."
"You're the best, Lorna! I'm definitely going!"
The thrill of visiting a billionaire's mansion sent the office into a frenzy.
Whispers broke out everywhere.
"I've lived my whole life without ever seeing the inside of a real heiress's mansion!"
"Saturday is my wedding anniversary, but screw it, I'm going!"
"I can't believe we work with the Chairman's daughter!"
Theresa stepped out of Rachel's office and blinked at the chaotic scene. She had no idea what had just happened.
"What's going on? Did everyone drink five cups of coffee?" Theresa asked.
A coworker spun around. "Theresa! Lorna is inviting us to her house this Saturday. Are you coming?"
Theresa couldn't care less. She had a mountain of work to get through.
"I'll pass. I'm not interested," Theresa said flatly.
She didn't care who Lorna invited, as long as it didn't involve her.
"Look, Theresa," the coworker said gently. "I know things are awkward because you tore Lorna's dress last time. Why don't you just apologize to her? She was nice enough to let it slide. We're all colleagues here. There's no need to make things so hostile."
"For the last time, that wasn't her dress. It was mine. Why would I apologize for my own clothes?"
Resigned, Theresa set her work aside and headed toward the Ellington estate.
At that exact moment, Lorna was leading her herd of coworkers through the grand gates of the massive villa.
As they stepped onto the property, the group gasped in awe, their phones already out and snapping pictures.
"So this is the Ellington mansion!"
"This is where the Chairman lives! I can't believe we're actually inside!"
"Lorna is so lucky. The life of a true heiress is just on another level."
"Hold on, I need to get this on my story."
Seeing them act like starstruck tourists stroked Lorna's massive ego. She felt like a queen holding court.
"Have fun and eat as much as you want," Lorna instructed them smoothly. "But please keep to this area. Do not wander over to that building over there."
