Reborn Fake Heiress Watch the Whole Family Burn novel Chapter 853

Charles puffed out his chest, looking insufferably smug. "Yeah, she is. What's it to you? Jealous?"

"Hardly," Theresa scoffed. "I just need you to pass a message to her. Tell her that her father misses her. He’s not angry anymore, and he just wants her to come home so they can talk. He’s worried sick and can barely eat."

Charles looked at Theresa as if she had lost her mind. "Are you a psycho? How do you know so much about Lorna's family business? And frankly, it’s none of your concern. If Lorna wants to go home, she will. She doesn't need a lecture from you."

In Charles's mind, Lorna's return to the Ellington estate was inevitable.

She was the sole daughter, the heir to the empire. This little rebellion was just a temporary phase.

He didn't need Theresa meddling.

"Whatever. I passed on the message. Do what you want," Theresa snapped, turning on her heel.

If it weren't for her deep respect for Butler Avery, she wouldn't have wasted a single breath on this idiot.

After work, Charles personally picked up groceries and headed to the apartment to cook dinner.

Watching him hustle around the kitchen, Lorna felt like the luckiest woman alive.

"You're amazing. Cooking for me after a long day at work... I love you," she murmured, wrapping her arms around his waist from behind and pressing a soft kiss to his shoulder.

"Just relax and scroll on your phone, babe. I'll call you when dinner's ready. I promised to treat you like a queen, and I keep my promises."

Lorna fought back tears of joy.

Finding a man like Charles was a blessing she didn't deserve.

"You're the best, Charles."

"Oh, by the way," he mentioned casually while stirring a pot, "Theresa came up to me at work today and started spouting a bunch of nonsense. It was really weird."

Lorna’s heart skipped a beat.

Charles convinced himself that keeping Lorna this satisfied would guarantee his place in the Ellington family once she inevitably went back.

Before they knew it, a month had flown by.

Rent was due.

Charles found himself cornered in the hallway by his landlord.

"Rent time, buddy."

"Can you give me a few extra days?" Charles pleaded, feeling the humiliating sting of poverty.

He had drained his savings buying luxury gifts for Lorna, and paying for all their expenses single-handedly had completely bankrupted him.

He had already taken an advance on next month's salary and had zero cash left.
