"No! You can't do this to me! I had a great job at LUMEN Studio, and you were the one who lured me here step by step. I risked getting fired to steal those first two designs for you. I only stole the draft for this competition to make sure Prism won, and you were the one who told me to do it! Are you seriously burning the bridge now that you've crossed it?"
Elaine refused to accept this. She had fully expected the agency to protect her, only to be told to pack her bags.
Originally, she had planned to enter the competition with her own original designs. But Isabella had approached her, calling her work subpar, and ordered her to steal from LUMEN Studio instead.
When Elaine hesitated, Isabella promised her massive rewards, which pushed Elaine to take the risk and bribe Nicole for the drafts.
Now, Isabella was revealing her true, ruthless colors.
"Stop spouting nonsense. Plagiarizing that design was entirely your own personal decision. It has absolutely nothing to do with me, and I certainly never ordered you to do it. Don't even try to pin this on me, Elaine. Pack your things and get out. I have nothing more to say to a failure like you," Isabella said, cleanly severing all ties.
Elaine let out a bitter, mocking laugh. "You're heartless. You were so nice to me before. I actually thought of you as a friend. I should have known you'd throw me away the second I outlived my usefulness."
"Friends? Do you honestly think you're worthy of being my friend? Consider this a harsh life lesson."
"No! I'm not leaving. I want to see the boss! I need to speak to Mr. Sinclair and explain everything!" Elaine yelled, refusing to give up.
Just then, the office doors opened. Patrick Sinclair walked in, accompanied by Elena.
"Mr. Sinclair..." Elaine breathed out, looking at him pleadingly. But she was entirely unprepared to see Elena walking by his side.
Patrick ignored Elaine completely. He turned his attention to Elena and said, "Elena, I promised Dylan I would give you a proper explanation. This is it."
Elaine froze.
An explanation!
Did Patrick plan to discard her from the very beginning?
"You knew all along, didn't you? You knew I was Aurora," Elena said.
"You are incredibly formidable. It truly is a pleasant surprise," Patrick replied smoothly.
He didn't explicitly confirm it, but Elena didn't need him to. He was terrifyingly sharp. He had figured out her identity a long time ago.
He knew Elaine's stolen design would inevitably fail, effectively destroying her entire professional life, and packaging it up as a neat little "gift" for Dylan and Elena.
He was brutally ruthless.
Elena and Sienna despised Elaine, but they had only intended to fire her from LUMEN Studio. They never planned to blacklist her from the industry entirely.
But Patrick had used this competition to humiliate Elaine publicly, exposing her plagiarism on a massive stage, nailing her to the cross of public shame, and ruining her life forever.
