Reborn From Ashes novel Chapter 237

No matter what Francis said or did to Hayden, it mustn't happen in front of David. Otherwise, Francis would be in a lot of trouble if Hayden embellished the story.

Leaving the room, Francis looked back with a glimmer in his eyes.

"Investigate him quickly. Use all available resources! I want to know how Hayden got to know David! This kid has never mentioned that he had this kind of connection! If those two are really acquainted with each other, then we must tread lightly," Francis said in an icy tone, his eyes turning cold.

"Understood!"

The Sterlings nodded in agreement. Their curiosity was piqued.

Hayden was just a nobody among the Sterling family, treated as a lowly household staff. How did he manage to get acquainted with someone as influential as David?

With that, they all began their investigation.

Meanwhile, on the other end, Hayden was a little relieved after seeing Francis and the others leave. At least he wouldn't feel so disgusted anymore.

"Thank you, Mr. Schnapp. I'll take my leave now," Hayden said gratefully.

"No need to thank me. I just so happen to be here! All the businessmen in Stonybrook are under my jurisdiction. If you run into any trouble, just let me know. I'd like to see which unscrupulous businessmen dare tarnish Stonybrook's reputation!" David smiled faintly, his words implying something else.

"Don't worry, Mr. Schnapp. I, too, hate people like that! Our emerald industry will surely thrive under your supervision! If anyone acts dishonestly, I'll be the first to do something about it!" Hayden vowed with great confidence, seizing the opportunity to express his stance.

"Very well!" David nodded, chuckling.

Hayden glanced at Benjamin indifferently. He didn't believe Benjamin would stay in line. Businessmen like him were just rotten to the core. If it weren't for David's presence, Hayden doubted he'd even be able to leave this place at all!

"I'll be taking my leave now." Hayden excused himself, nodding slightly at David. After that, he carried the gem and prepared to leave.

At the doorway, David suddenly stopped in his tracks. He gave Benjamin a long, meaningful look, but said nothing.

Sweat began to bead on Benjamin's face as an uneasy feeling gripped him.

"When doing business, we must make sure to conduct it properly. Everyone knows that Stonybrook's reputation isn't the best. Soon, Stonybrook will be preparing to align with the capital for a major development. I'd like to show some results.

"As a renowned emerald dealer in Stonybrook, I believe you should set a good example, Mr. Ziegler, don't you think so?"

Without waiting for a response, David turned and left.

After giving it some thought, Benjamin finally understood the message. David was warning him to stay in line.

It seemed that there would be some major changes in Stonybrook in the near future!
