"But the Sterlings won't just stop here, right?" Christina asked softly. She was clever and quickly noticed that.
After all, the Sterlings had clashed with Hayden multiple times in the past. Just as it had been, future conflicts with them were inevitable.
"So what if they keep coming? They can try whatever they want, and I'll take them head-on!" Hayden responded firmly, his eyes glowing with determination.
"You seem very confident!" Christina teased.
"Yes, I'm confident." He chuckled.
Having gotten used to the Sterlings' behavior in his past life, he knew them like the back of his hand. If they even tried to make any moves, Hayden could roughly guess what they were up to.
There was nothing he couldn't solve! That was the source of his confidence.
"Enough. It's getting late. Let's go home for now," Hayden said calmly.
"Sure!" Christina nodded, smiling brightly.
The two of them walked side by side, strolling leisurely down the road. Hayden would occasionally catch a glimpse of Christina's swaying arm, and that arm would sometimes brush against his.
For some reason, Hayden felt an impulse within him, urging him to hold onto her hand. Unconsciously, his palms began to sweat. Plagued by these unfamiliar feelings, they arrived at a fork in the road.
"See you tomorrow," Hayden said.
"Alright. I'll see you tomorrow!" Christina nodded, her eyes filled with longing as she stared at him.
"Hayden's probably thinking of his girlfriend," Serena teased.
"Girlfriend?" Jenny's expression froze as she stared at Hayden in disbelief. She never imagined that Hayden would have a girlfriend out of the blue!
"Mom, stop talking nonsense. I don't have one," Hayden denied it immediately, shaking his head fervently.
"Alright. Whether you have one or not, only you know the answer. I was just pulling your leg; there's no need to get worked up," Serena said with a smile.
"Hayden, are you really seeing someone? Who is she? Is it that Christina girl? You can't date her! She was friends with Lily! Who knows if she's trying to deceive you?" Jenny immediately tried to dissuade him, worried that Hayden might get infatuated with Christina.
"Eat your food!" Hayden sighed helplessly, then started to put more food on Jenny's plate. If they stayed on the topic, it would probably get even more out of hand.
