Reborn I Refuse To Save The Traitors (Margaery) novel Chapter 128

**Whispers Shape Distant Tomorrows by Aren Cole Vale**

“Tam much better now, thank you for your concern, Your Highness,” Margaery replied with a polite smile, her brows knitted tightly together, betraying the turmoil beneath her composed exterior.

In her previous life, she had little to no impression of Marcus and Callum; they had not attended Sophia’s birthday celebration, an event that had felt pivotal at the time. And then there was Dominic, who had unilaterally severed their engagement, dragging her reputation through the mud and leaving her feeling utterly abandoned.

In the wake of that betrayal, fueled by Texa’s cunning schemes, Raul had erupted in fury, casting her out from the Chancellor’s estate like a discarded object.

From that moment on, she had wandered the streets, a ghost of her former self, until the King orchestrated a marriage for Dashnell upon his glorious return from the south. It was during this tumultuous period that she learned of Tessa’s reckless decision to seek out Callum, only to be ensnared by kidnappers who conspired with Tessa to frame her when she bravely exposed Tessa’s treachery.

For what felt like an eternity, she had lived as a beggar, drifting through the streets, while Marcus and Callum basked in the privileges of nobility, their lives worlds apart from hers. It was no surprise, then, that their paths had never crossed.

However, this time at Sophia’s birthday celebration, the atmosphere was thick with anticipation, and the number of attendees was overwhelming. As they approached her, Margaery could feel the weight of their gazes pressing down on her, suffocating in its intensity.

Margaery was acutely aware that the changes surrounding her were likely the result of a butterfly effect stemming from her own choices. She had only intended to break off her engagement with Dominic, yet here she stood, the center of attention for reasons she could scarcely comprehend.

After responding to Mamun, she turned to the others, striving to minimize any unnecessary trouble that might arise from the unfolding events.

Yet Marsias, with a keen eye, would not allow her to escape his notice. He understood that keeping Margaery under his influence might be a safer bet than risking her falling into Dominic’s grasp once more.

Out of consideration for Brommie’s reputation, he opted for a more subtle approach. Finally, he spoke, “If you ever need anything, do let me know. After all, I am your cousin. No matter who dares to bully you, I will stand up for you.”

His words carried a weight that shifted the atmosphere in the room. The onlookers exchanged glances, and even their expressions toward Margaery transformed, tinged with curiosity and intrigue.

Margaery felt as if she were standing on a precarious tightrope. Alone, she was battling against the Chancellor’s estate and the formidable Hadley family, and she knew that help would never come from Marcus, as he was entangled with both the Wallens and the Hadleys.

At that moment, she could only muster a polite response. “Thank you, Prince Marcus?”

Marcus seemed poised to say more, but just then, a booming voice rang out from outside, announcing the arrival of Prince Satamed and Princess Estelle, prompting the hosts and guests alike to welcome them.

Margaery took a deep breath, her mind racing. “Why are so many people here?” she wondered, anxiety creeping into her thoughts.

Especially since Marcus’s faction and Nathaniel’s were at odds, and Estelle had been raised under Alicia’s influence, which did not align with Nathaniel’s interests.
