Reborn I Refuse To Save The Traitors (Margaery) novel Chapter 59

**Whispers Shape Distant Tomorrows by Aren Cole Vale**

**Chapter 59: Take Her Seriously**

Halle’s heart raced as she witnessed Tessa’s distress. Without a moment’s hesitation, she rushed to assist her, lifting the young lady gently but firmly. “Lady Tessa, you mustn’t put yourself through this torment. But since you’ve chosen to call me ‘mother,’ I would move mountains to support you.”

“But you must keep this between us,” Halle continued, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. “If Mr. Wallen or the young masters ever caught wind of this, I’d surely be in dire straits!”

With that, she tenderly brushed away the tears cascading down Tessa’s cheeks, her heart aching for the girl.

Tessa wrapped her arms around Halle, pulling her close in a fierce embrace. “I understand, Mother,” she murmured, her voice thick with emotion.

Halle patted her back gently, her expression softening with reassurance. “Do not fret, Tessa. Whatever trials Mr. Wallen devises for you, I will shield you from them. He won’t suspect a thing.”

A spark ignited in Tessa’s eyes as a thought crossed her mind. “Halle, do you ever think it’s possible that Margaery and I aren’t truly twins? What if someone switched us at birth?”

Halle’s eyes widened in disbelief. “What?”

In an instant, understanding dawned upon her. “Ah, I see what you mean. I won’t let Margaery outshine you!” A shared smile passed between them, a silent agreement forming as a plan began to unfurl.

With urgency in her step, Halle departed, leaving Tessa alone with her swirling thoughts.

Seated by the window, Tessa clutched a handkerchief tightly, her gaze fixated on the snowy landscape outside.

Sooner or later, she vowed, she would send everyone in the Chancellor’s estate to the depths of despair.

And her first target would be Margaery.

By the time Margaery concluded her sword practice, the sun loomed high in the azure sky. The brisk wind had kissed her cheeks with a rosy hue, but the heat of her exertion enveloped her like a comforting blanket.

Just as she turned to head inside for breakfast, Tessa appeared, flanked by two maids.

“Margaery,” Tessa called out, her voice carrying an undertone of urgency.

Margaery, wrapped snugly in a luxurious mink coat, halted at the entrance of Gracewind Garden. She instructed the maids to remain outside, closing the gate behind her with a soft click.

Her gaze fell upon Margaery, and Tessa felt a shiver run down her spine.

She had changed.

It had only been a handful of days since that fateful incident in the woodshed, yet Margaery seemed like a completely transformed individual—no longer the Margaery Tessa had once known.

Gone were the days of chasing after Raul and the other young masters, begging for their attention with tears in her eyes. She no longer fretted over receiving the same privileges as Tessa, and astonishingly, she had aligned herself with a circle of formidable individuals.

Now, she was even honing her combat skills.

It was almost unbelievable.

‘How could she have morphed so drastically in such a short span?’ Tessa pondered, her mind racing.

“You’re not really Margaery, are you?” Tessa squinted, suspicion dancing in her gaze as she scrutinized Margaery’s expression.

At first glance, Margaery might have appeared delicate and fragile, but Tessa’s keen eye caught the steely resolve lurking beneath the surface. This girl was anything but weak.

In her past life, Margaery had been blissfully unaware of Tessa’s malevolent intentions upon arriving at the Chancellor’s estate.

By the time the truth dawned on her, it was nearly too late. Tessa had already set her sights on eliminating her.

The rationale behind Tessa’s initial target was simple: she believed Margaery was the one Raul and the other Wallens cherished the most.

Thus, taking her out first would inflict the deepest wound.

Yet, fate had twisted in unexpected ways. Instead of Margaery being the favored daughter, the Wallens had showered affection upon Tessa, leading to Margaery’s downfall—their own kin.

But this unexpected turn of events only bolstered Tessa’s sense of triumph.

By then, Margaery had lost the trust of everyone around her.

This time, however, Tessa’s malice and cunning were emerging much earlier than in her previous life—like right now.
