Fu Mingxue didn’t get back until ten o’clock.
Xiao Li had driven her home, of course.
As soon as the car stopped, Fu Mingxue got out. "Thanks. Drive safe on your way back."
Xiao Li acknowledged her, then drove away.
Just as Fu Mingxue was about to push the gate open, it swung open from the inside. It was her mother.
"Mom, why are you still up?" Fu Mingxue was taken aback.
Mrs. Fu replied simply, "I’m a light sleeper."
Then, seeing her standing still, she prompted, "What are you just standing there for? Hurry up and get inside."
Fu Mingxue stepped into the courtyard, and Mrs. Fu closed the gate behind her.
"Why did you have to work so late?"
"A meeting, plus getting familiar with my team and the facility." A lot had happened in the workshop today; she had even toured the current engine manufacturing workshop.
She had also met some very impressive master craftsmen.
She thought it was fantastic! It made her feel so fulfilled.
’I need to understand every detail of the production process.’
’It’s a shame I don’t have more time; otherwise, I’d love to just stay buried in the workshop—’
Mrs. Fu had never expected her daughter to be going to meetings on her very first day of work.
’What kind of rank is that?’
’In my experience, the only meetings I could ever attend were the mid-year and year-end employee award ceremonies. Aren’t the people who go to daily meetings all leaders?’
’So—my daughter is a leader right from the get-go?’
"Are you hungry? I can make you some noodles?"
"Mom, I’m not hungry. Don’t worry about it. The cafeteria at work serves a late-night snack, and I already ate before coming home."
Mrs. Fu’s eyes widened. "Your company is that good? They even have late-night snacks?"
Fu Mingxue nodded. "Yeah, and the food is pretty good, too. There’s meat, vegetables... it’s a pretty good spread. Best of all, it’s really cheap because the company subsidizes our meals."
