Fu Mingxue nodded and immediately rode off on her bicycle.
She didn’t have the time or the obligation to explain her personal problems to him.
As she reached the factory gates, she spotted a figure waiting outside.
’He looked awfully familiar.’ "—Qin Wenhao?"
Qin Wenhao answered, "It’s me."
Fu Mingxue hurriedly hit the brakes. "What are you doing here?"
She immediately realized she’d asked a pointless question. "Are you here to pick me up?"
Qin Wenhao nodded. "Yes."
He was on leave for a few days.
’Since she was working the night shift, of course he had to come and pick her up.’
’Fu Mingxue had been about to say he didn’t need to come, that she could get home on her own.’
’But he’d already come all this way. Saying that now would just seem ungrateful.’
She got off her bicycle and asked casually, "Did you walk here?"
"Yes." Qin Wenhao naturally took the bicycle from her. He swung one leg over the frame and, bracing himself with his other foot on the ground, gestured for her to get on the back.
Fu Mingxue quickly climbed on.
Once Qin Wenhao saw she was settled, he pushed off with one foot, and the bicycle shot forward a good distance.
Just as they were riding away, Xu Ming happened to be coming out and saw the whole thing.
’He had thought Fu Mingxue was just bluffing earlier. He never expected she was actually married, or that her husband would come pick her up after her shift.’
Swallowing his disappointment, he headed toward the dorms—
──
Fu Mingxue sat on the rear rack, not saying a word.
’In truth, she didn’t know what to say.’
’Though, sitting on the back of the bike, she figured she’d rather be pedaling herself.’
’At least if she were pedaling herself, her butt wouldn’t have to suffer.’
Just then, Qin Wenhao spoke up. "I’m going into town tomorrow. Is there anything you need?"
Fu Mingxue jumped, startled by his sudden voice.
