After a three-day train ride, Qin Wenhao returned to the family compound.
Mrs. Fu was surprised when she saw him. "Son-in-law, what are you doing back? How is the child?"
"Mom, the child had surgery and still needs to recover. She’s fine otherwise, but the scare left her temporarily unable to speak."
Qin Wenhao’s words left Mrs. Fu utterly shocked.
Unable to speak?
’Heavens, is it that serious?’
"—Then what do we do? When will she get better?"
Qin Wenhao shook his head. "I’m not sure. We’ll have to see how she recovers over time."
Mrs. Fu was at a loss for words.
’That poor thing.’
’That child is just too pitiful.’
"She will. She’ll definitely start talking again soon. Children are forgetful. Once some time passes, she’ll slowly get back to normal."
Qin Wenhao certainly hoped so.
"Mom, you’ve worked hard during this time. The two kids haven’t been naughty, have they?"
"The two of them are very easy to take care of. They don’t cry or make a fuss at all. And they can both walk now."
Mrs. Fu was very fond of the twins.
The two children were indeed adorable.
’She just didn’t get it—how could their mother have the heart to abandon such adorable children and go remarry?’
’But the children are also very smart.’
’They’re already walking very steadily now.’
As they spoke, the two children came wobbling over.
When they saw Qin Wenhao, their faces immediately broke into happy smiles.
"Dad, Dad—"
That single word, "Dad," instantly soothed Qin Wenhao, and he was overcome with emotion.
Not to mention, when he saw the two little ones wobbling toward him, the joy he felt was beyond words.
He dropped his things on the floor and opened his arms—
One on the left, one on the right.
Mrs. Fu sighed. "She’s on a business trip. I heard it might be a month or two before she’s back. She was supposed to call you, but the trip was so last-minute she only had time to come home and pack a few things."
Qin Wenhao was surprised.
But when he thought about her job, it wasn’t so surprising after all.
"Mingxue’s work is important."
"Yes, work is important. Son-in-law, you should go take a shower and change. I’ll go make dinner."
"Mom, you just watch the two kids. I’ll make dinner later. It’s a perfect chance to show you my skills."
"Show them off another day. Tonight, you’re eating my cooking."
Mrs. Fu was a sensible woman; how could she let her son-in-law cook when he was so tired? Not to mention he was injured!
Qin Wenhao didn’t argue. He went to his room to put down his luggage first.
He looked around his room—it was very clean, the kind that was obviously tidied every day.
’He had to admit, having his mother-in-law in the house was a truly wonderful thing.’
’The best decision he ever made was bringing his mother-in-law here.’
’Wait a minute, his wife was the one who brought her mother over.’
