When my eyes opened, I saw the white ceiling, then Dario's face. He helped me sit up. “What happened.?” I asked my voice sounding hoarse.

"You passed out." He said quietly. I closed my eyes for a second and looked at him.

Just then doctor walked in and smiled, "Ah, Mrs. Valteri is awake. You gave us quite a scare." he said and I mumbled an apology. After the doctor assured us everything looked fine and that I was two weeks along, we left with pamphlets and prenatal meds.

The second we got in the car, I started to hit his arm and said, "This is your fault. All your fault, you ass." I said through gritted teeth. He just pulled me into him and hugged me. “ I’m sorry” he said softy.

“I can’t deal with this right now, I’m going to Cipher Core.” I said. He looked like he wanted to say something, but I glared at him and he stayed quiet. When the car dropped me off ,he kissed me and said goodbye.

Once I was in my office, I handled my work. Around eleven, Jax called and I answered. "What do you have for me, Jax?" I asked.

"Caroline Vexari is downstairs crying and screaming. She has reporters with her." Jax said.

There was another call coming in. I ended the call with Jax and answered the other line. It was Dario.

"Yes, Dario?" I sad with a sigh.

"She's at Cipher Core," he said.

I sighed "Yes, I have security with me, I'll handle it." I said quietly.

"It's live also on social media." he said

"I figured. Don't worry, I won't do anything rash."

"Okay and call me if you need me" he said.

I ended the call and called Jax back. Jax answered right away, "Make sure you have an eye on her, I'm coming down."

"Got it." Jax said.

I headed out of my office and into the elevator. Before the elevator opened on the ground floor and into the lobby, I set my face into that calm, sweet, meek, and obedient expression. The second the elevator opened and I stepped out, all eyes turned toward me.

Caroline started screaming and lunged toward me, but Jax came out from the side and blocked her. "Mother, why are you doing this to me?" I asked.

I said it in a soft, broken voice that made people look at Caroline. The lobby was filled with employees, security detail, news reporters, social media people, and even some strangers. Caroline probably brought them for backup.

"You little bitch, you ruined me and Nysa." Caroline screamed.

I forced myself so tears filled my eyes. "Mother, I know you don't love me. You never have. I understood that when you sent me away to live with my grandparents. I was only six, but I understood it. I never blamed you or hated you, even though you never visited or called. Dad was the only one that called and came to see me, but grandma and grandpa said he couldn't because you forbade him." I said in a broken voice and Caroline started screaming, "You're lying, you deceitful little bitch, you're lying."

I started to cry, making my voice tremble. I looked around and said, "I don't hate my mother or my sister, and I would never do anything to hurt them. But because my father brought me back home and I was the one that married into the Valteri family, my mother and sister hate me for it. I don't mind being blamed or accused. You can even curse me and I wouldn't say a word, because you're my mother. I love you. I just want you to get help, or your sickness will kill you." I said through tears.

Caroline shrieked and yelled, "Shut up."

"What sickness?" Someone asked,

"Please don't ask, it's better if the public does not know." I said softly.

Caroline screamed and tried to lunge at me again, Jax grabbed her and began dragging her out the door. I just stood there looking sad and hopeless, shaking my head. I stood there for a while, making sure I looked sad and helpless.
