REBORN My Second Life I Became The Villianess novel Nysa and Dario Valteri Chapter 86
I let out a quiet breath, my mind ticking forward through the chess board. I knew how this was going to played out. In a few days, they would release Nysa. She would run straight to Caroline and Carlton, crying and screaming that she was set up, that I was behind it. But Carlton wouldn't believe a single word she says. Ever since I had came back home, Nysa had been targeting me and the whole situation with Dario made her look unhinged and desperate. Carlton would probably lock her away himself, and then he would eventually call me just to fill me in on the wreckage. It was a clean, self-cleaning problem.
I texted the number that sent the message: Keep using her, One Million more, One week.
The reply came almost immediately.
Unknown: one week , one million done. Video will be provided.
I threw the phone on the bed and grabbed aa quick shower then headed back down. I walked over to where the event coordinator was standing by the scale model, clearing his throat to start explaining the seating arrangements. Before the guy could even open his mouth, one of the doors at the front of the grand hall swung wide. A security guard hurried inside, breathless, and looked straight at my dad.
"Mr. Cruz," the guard said, snapping to attention. "The Valteri family is here."
Dad didn't even hesitate. A sharp, booming laugh cut through the quiet of the foyer as he raised his voice. "What the hell are you waiting for? Let them in!"
The guard hurried back toward the double doors. A few minutes later, the entire Valteri family walked into the foyer, cutting an imposing, sharp figure against the warm marble of the mansion.
I didn't wait for formalities. I crossed the floor, going straight to Elena, wrapping my arms around her in a real, tight hug. Then I pulled in Bianca and Ella, before stepping right up to Grandmother, pressing a soft kiss to her cheek.
They all stepped back, hands resting on my arms as their sharp eyes checked me over from head to toe, looking for bruises or exhaustion.
"How is the south, sweetheart?" Elena asked, her voice carrying that warm, familiar cadence of home. "Are they taking care of you?"
I kept my voice soft, offering a small, easy shrug. "It's okay. There hasn't been any trouble." I said softly.
Across the room, my dad locked eyes with Vincenzo and let out a dry scoff. "Really? You think I would put my own daughter in the middle of trouble?" Dad asked.
Grandfather stepped forward, a knowing glint in his eye as he looked at my dad. "Pedro, that unruly grandson of mine simply couldn't function another day without his wife, so he forced the whole lot of us down here." Grandfather said.
My dad shook his head, a heavy sigh escaping his lips. "That damned boy is stubborn."
Grandmother gave a sharp, knowing smile. "His stubbornness is the exact reason he became your godson, Pedro." she said. Before anyone else could answer, heavy, fast footsteps echoed across the marble floor and Dario walked in.
The second he spotted me standing near the center of the foyer, his eyes locked on mine. He didn't slow down, or offer a greeting. He didn't wait for a single polite introduction. He crossed the distance in three long strides, grabbed me by the waist before I could even draw a breath, and slung me effortlessly over his shoulder.
I let out a sharp, surprised breath, my hands catching the back of his jacket as he turned on his heel and started walking straight toward the grand staircase.
"Godfather," he called out, his voice echoing off the high ceilings as he hauled me toward the upper levels. "I'll be in my room."
Dario didn't slow down his pace as he carried me down the hall, his stride were long and steady despite the dead weight over his shoulder. He bypassed the guest suites, heading straight for the master quarters at the very end of the hall where the door was already slightly ajar.
He kicked it open with the toe of his boot, stepping inside and slamming it shut behind us with a heavy, solid thud that locked out the noise of the rest of the house.
The second he set me down on my feet, he didn't give me a single second to catch my breath. His hands came up, gripping my hips and hauling me flush against his body as his mouth crashed down onto mine.
