REBORN My Second Life I Became The Villianess novel Nysa and Dario Valteri Chapter 93
Ten minutes later, a sharp knock echoed from the door. One of the security guards opened it, and Carlton walked in. He looked tired and stressed. I could see it right on his face. The security guards stepped back out into the hallway, pulling the door shut behind them.
I took a seat on the couch, and my father followed suit, sitting across from me. "What is going on?" he asked, his voice quiet.
I took a deep breath, keeping my eyes locked on his. "Dad, why did you send me away to live with my grandparents?" I asked.
He looked confused for a second, then replied, "Because that's what you wanted." He said.
And it was my turn to be confused. "Dad, I never wanted or asked to go live with them." I said.
He looked even more confused. "When I came back from that business trip, your mother and sister came to me and said you were crying and throwing a tantrum, that you didn't want to stay and wanted to go with your grandparents. I wanted to talk to you, but your mother said every time she and Nysa brought it up, you started screaming and throwing a tantrum. So I just agreed and let you go. I sent you a monthly allowance all the way to eighteen. I came multiple times, but you refused to see me. I called, and you didn't want to talk to me. I felt like I failed you, like I did something wrong to you." He said.
I sat there, shocked and confused. I asked quietly, "Dad, what money? You never came, neither did you call." I said.
He sat up straighter. "No, I came. Every Sunday for twelve years, I showed up at your grandparents estate and you wouldn't come down. Every month, I sent two hundred thousand dollars into a card for you. I called every three days, and your grandmother would say you didn't want to talk." he said sounding sure of what he was saying.
I stood up, pacing across the floor. "Dad, I never knew you came. I never cried or threw a tantrum in the first place. I was only six years old. If I had known you had come, I would have come down to see you. If I had known you had called, I would have spoken to you. As for the money, my grandmother gave me a card, but there was only one hundred thousand total on the card, no more." I said.
He stared at me, the realization hitting him hard. "So they lied to me." he said his voice low and full of disbelief.
I sat back down, my voice dropping. "I am not your daughter." I said softly.
He stared at me and let out a harsh, disbelieving laugh. "Don't say such things. Of course you're my daughter." he said with a laugh.
I reached down, picked up the thick manila folder Pascal had put together, and handed it to him. He opened it with shaking hands and started to read. The more he read, the paler his face got. I sat there silently, staring at him as he kept reading, his hands started to shake so hard the papers rattled together in his grip.
"No," he whispered, his voice cracking. "This can't be possible."
