Chapter 154: Chapter 152: How’s the Power of a Five-Pronged Attack?

That afternoon, Cecilia Sterling knocked on the door of the principal’s office.

This was her second time visiting the principal’s office.

This time, she was here about John Lawson’s situation.

Principal Warner was a law school graduate and had extensive connections in Lorcain’s legal circles. Besides, Cecilia had many professional questions she wanted to ask him.

"Cecilia, I’ve gotten the gist of the situation you described."

After listening to Cecilia’s brief explanation of the facts, Principal Warner nodded lightly and got straight to the point. "Regarding divorce, especially a contested one, you can’t have the other party stripped of all their assets, even if they are the one at fault. That only happens if the couple signed a prenuptial agreement, or if the other party voluntarily gives up their share of the assets during an uncontested divorce."

Cecilia nodded in understanding. "So, in other words, she’ll walk away with some of the assets, one way or another?"

"That’s right. However, since your friend has a rare disease and his wife betrayed their marital vows at such a time to file for divorce, the court will, at its discretion, award your friend a larger proportion of the assets based on the circumstances. So if you want to help your friend, you should focus on getting him as large a share of the assets as possible to secure his future and ease the financial pressure of raising his child."

"Thank you, Principal Warner. I see I was being naive before. But there’s one more thing I’d like to ask for your help with!"

Principal Warner smiled kindly and asked, "What do you need my help with?"

"I want to find the best divorce lawyer in the City of Lorcain. Since you’re a law professor, Principal, I’m sure you must know someone like that, right?" Cecilia asked bluntly.

Principal Warner’s response was just as forthcoming. "Not a problem. As it happens, I have a former student who’s an expert in this field. He’s been practicing for years and has an almost undefeated record in divorce cases. He’s quite a big name in the industry."

Cecilia’s eyes lit up. She watched as Principal Warner took out his phone, searched for a contact, and a moment later, placed a voice call.

When the call connected, the voice on the other end sounded pleasantly surprised. "Professor? What’s the occasion? I wasn’t expecting a call from you this afternoon."

"Yves, my boy, your old professor has a favor to ask!"

"Just say the word, Professor."

Principal Warner chuckled, then explained the matter Cecilia had brought to him. "So that’s the gist of it. What do you think? Can you help take on this case?"

"This case sounds straightforward. If there’s concrete evidence of the wife’s infidelity, she won’t get any leverage at all."

Principal Warner agreed. "Exactly. The goal is to secure as many rights and interests for the client as possible. He has a rare disease, and he’s adamant about getting custody of the child. So you’ll need to get a favorable ruling from the court—you know what I mean, right?"

"Don’t worry, Professor. How about this: give her my law firm’s address and have her come by when she’s free. We can discuss the specific details in person then."

"Excellent, excellent."

The two exchanged a few more pleasantries before Principal Warner hung up. He then found Lawyer Yves Quincy’s business card and handed it to Cecilia. "You heard him. Just go to this address to find him. He’s one of the partners at the firm."

Cecilia took it with a grateful expression. "Thank you, Principal Warner."

"Don’t mention it." Principal Warner smiled at Cecilia. "I still remember you donating that telescope to the school’s astronomy department. The fact that you knew to come to me for professional help shows that you’re a level-headed young woman. If you have any legal questions in the future, feel free to come to me. Don’t act rashly on your own, understand?"

His words were spoken with earnest sincerity, and Cecilia, deeply moved, nodded in assurance. "Okay, I’ll remember what you said."

「Two days later」
