Ella shook her head, "I am not good at shooting, Miss Quinn. And I have never tried my hand in it either..."
"I don’t believe that Ace has never taught you this before, considering how passionate he used to be about this. You are being humble, aren’t you?"
Before Ella could say a word, Lilith grabbed a shotgun and threw it at Ella with precision.
It was too late to react by then.
All Ella could do was stand there and wait for that shotgun to hit her body, right where it was aimed.
However, something unexpected happened.
In the split-second, an image crossed in front of Ella’s eyes. The silhouette of a small girl enveloped by a tall shadow.
And a crisp voice rang, ’Straighten your body, lift your hand. It’s not that tough!’
And before she realized, she had moved.
"Woah! That was cool!"
Kade’s audible gasp brought Ella back to her senses.
The cold touch of metal in her hand seeped through her skin. In the end, she had changed her posture and swiftly caught the shotgun that was thrown her way.
It was just like how she had corrected her posture on the horse just when she was about to fall.
Ella had never learnt how to do it before. Yet, it seemed like something inside her had pushed her to act on it.
The familiar yet unfamiliar voice in her head, that commanded her to act.
And the visual that snapped in her mind.
In a daze, Ella looked around. And her eyes locked with Adrian’s who was already looking at her.
But unlike others, there was not a trace of shock in his eyes. Nor a hint of surprise.
"So, Miss Yu is indeed not a noob..." Lilith’s restrained voice sounded.
"Were you not sure of it before you threw the gun at her?" Ruby coldly said.
Only then did Lilith’s attention shift to Ruby.
But her vision was blocked by Ella who stepped forward and stood in front of Ruby, "I am sure Miss Quinn was just having fun..."
"Why don’t we start already?" Luca was the one who spoke up.
Ronan nodded, "The setup is done. We can get started.
"But... I have never..." A soft voice interrupted them.
Everyone turned to look at Lana who was standing a little distance from Lilith.
"Miss Lana, I can help you out."
"But..."
"Don’t worry, my cousin has some great skills, although it’s not comparable to Ace’s but..." Lilith shrugged.
"Hey, what do you mean by that..."
Ruby was dragged by Kade who asked Ella to join them, saying ’I can teach you both’.
But Ella dodged the offer and found herself a quiet place where Riri and Lala were playing.
She watched as Kade helped Ruby in holding the gun and correcting her posture. And at a little distance, Ronan watched them with a gaze that could split mountains.
Ella held back a sigh.
Her eyes then shifted to Adrian who stood near a tree, his phone pressed to his ear while his face remained solemn.
Ella placed her arms on her knees and propped her chin on them, looking at his side profile.
’Woof’
’Meow’
Riri and Lala circled around Ella’s feet.
Ella looked down at them with a smile, "Mommy is fine..."
Although Lala was not as expressive, Riri was like a little human. His wide eyes looked at Ella with concern as if he could feel that something was wrong.
"It’s just that..." Ella’s brows tugged together.
She gazed at the quiet and elegant Lana who was standing with a rifle in her hand.
Who was this person? Ella thought that seeing a lookalike at the supermarket was probably just a coincidence but now, she couldn’t help but notice that they looked almost similar.
If not for the different haircuts, one couldn’t tell them apart at one glance.
Why had she not met her in her previous life? And why was she meeting her in this life?
What role did Lana play in this game?
And in her previous life, who was the man that had kidnapped her, the man who was commanding Esther?
Why had that person never showed his face all the while as he played with her life ruthlessly?
"I don’t know what this feeling is in my heart... I feel restless, uneasy..." Ella mumbled.
