Chapter 17
Chase must have worked late last night and only got home then.
Isabella saw him but didn’t bother to greet him. She walked straight
to the farthest seat from him and started eating breakfast by herself.
Chase looked at her.
Today, Isabella had on her exaggerated makeup again. Her long,
straight red hair looked obviously fake, the yellowish foundation
completely covered her natural skin, and the smoky eye makeup replaced her naturally delicate eyeliner, making her unrecognizable.
Reverse makeup.
Isabella was very good at it.
Chase dismissed it, thinking she was just trying to draw the family’s
attention away from Bianca in her own unique way,
But people are emotional creatures. Bianca had been with their
family for seventeen years, and that was something Isabella could
never take away.

He hoped Isabella could understand this and get along with Bianca.
If she could treat Bianca like a real sister, he could still treat Isabella
like a real sister too.
Chase remembered what the driver, Kai, had said earlier and asked,
“So, why are you going to the hospital today?”
This was the first time Chase had initiated a conversation with her.
Isabella replied indifferently, “Getting a vaccine.”
Actually, the Taylor family’s genes were pretty good. Chase, Tobias,
Kieran, and Gabriel were all exceptionally handsome in their own
unique ways.
Chase was cool and composed, Tobias was bright and warm, Kieran
had the looks of a celebrity, and Gabriel was strikingly rebellious.
Who wouldn’t be drawn to such brothers?
Isabella used to be like that. To her, they were all outstanding, and
she naturally wanted to get closer to them, to learn from them, much
like a girl idolizing celebrities,
But now…

Chapter 17
Isabella had seen through their biased nature and selfish
personalities beneath their impressive exteriors. She had lost all
interest in these so–called “high–quality men.”
“Why are you getting a vaccine?” Chase asked again.
Isabella had mentioned before that Gabriel had thrown her to
Heather Bluff, but he didn’t know her hand had been bitten by a wild
animal.
Isabella’s eyes were calm. “I was bitten by a guard dog.”
Chase was slightly shocked.
He hadn’t known about this.
A girl being thrown into the wilderness at night and then being bitten
by a wild animal…
He couldn’t help but imagine the scene, and his brow furrowed.
Even though he didn’t like Isabella, he didn’t condone Gabriel’s
behavior either.
Chase opened his mouth, speaking in a low voice, “Isabella, I’ll talk to
Gabriel…”
Chapter 17
“No need to trouble yourself,” Isabella interrupted indifferently. “This
is between Gabriel and me.”
With that, Isabella didn’t look at him again. She put down her
utensils and left the dining room.
Chase was stunned, staring at the now empty spot, his brow
furrowing.
No need to trouble yourself?
She was being so distant.
Chase felt inexplicably annoyed.
Just then, he saw Gabriel walk in, still groggy. Chase stared at him
and demanded, “Did you know Isabella was bitten by a guard dog?”
Gabriel shook his head blankly. “No, when did this happen?”
“When you threw her to Heather Bluff.”
Gabriel was taken aback.
Before he could say anything, Chase continued, “Gabriel, when are
you going to grow up?”

Gabriel looked at Chase’s displeased face, momentarily confused.
What was up with Chase?
“Chase, Isabella being bitten by a guard dog isn’t my fault. I only did that because she pushed Bianca first. Did she think about what could
have happened to Bianca if she got hurt…”
“Shut up.” Chase’s brow furrowed deeply. He pulled out his phone and
did something on it. When he looked back at Gabriel, his eyes were
full of warning. “I’ve frozen your allowance card for now. Think about
what you did wrong, and I’ll unfreeze it when you figure it out.”
With that, Chase got up and left.
Gabriel was stunned.
It took him a while to react.
He angrily kicked the table leg.
What the hell?
Why was his morning ruined like this?
Who did he offend?

Chapter 17
When Isabella went to find the driver, Kai, she saw Tobias already in
the car, ready to go.
“Ms. Taylor, Mr. Chase Taylor needs to go to the office later, so Eli’s
car will be used for that. Since both you and Mr. Tobias Taylor are
going to the hospital, I’ll take you both together,” Kai explained.
The Taylor family only had two drivers, Eli and Kai.
Chase’s office and the hospital were in opposite directions.
So Kai’s arrangement was indeed the best solution.
Tobias sat in the back seat, not saying a word. His handsome face
showed signs of irritation, his dark eyes slightly narrowed, clearly
unhappy with the arrangement but having no choice.
“No need,” Isabella told Kai. “You take him. I’ll get a cab.”
Her words surprised both Kai and Tobias.
Tobias hadn’t said anything to her, hadn’t forbidden her from getting
in the car, and hadn’t shown any displeasure. Yet Isabella would
rather take a cab than ride with him?
