Chapter 73
“What are you all whispering about?” Juniper was the last to step out of the dorm. Seeing the four girls clustered at the doorway, she tilted her head with
curiosity.
“The school beauty vote,” Violet replied casually.
Juniper gave a soft sound of acknowledgment, but her gaze suddenly shifted downstairs. “Violet, Charles is here for you.”
At once, Violet leaned over the railing.
There he was.
Charles stood beneath the dormitory building, tall and solidly built, dressed in stylish clothes that made him stand out even more. He lifted his head as if
sensing her gaze.
When their eyes met, he raised his brows and offered a relaxed, confident smile – bright, charming, full of boyish vitality.
“I’m heading out then, see you in class.”
Violet waved quickly and hurried downstairs.
Aurora nudged Isabella. “That’s Charles – Violet’s childhood sweetheart. Don’t they look made for each other?”
At those words, Isabella’s fingers tightened unconsciously. Made for each other? The irony was suffocating.
Violet had given him everything – her devotion, her time, her earnings, her future. When he was unknown and insignificant, she stood by him without hesitation. While she ran from venue to venue performing to earn money, Charles spent freely without guilt.
When Violet stayed up through the night recording demos, Charles lay tangled in sheets with Juniper.
And when the truth eventually surfaced, he didn’t just betray her – he destroyed her. He injected her with HIV.
Her most vibrant years were reduced to hospital corridors, medication schedules, and slow despair. She spiraled into hopelessness, into self–destruction.
Isabella knew all of it now. She knew the mask Charles wore. She knew the poison Juniper concealed behind her smile. But knowledge alone wasn’t enough.
If she spoke too soon, Violet would defend him. She would doubt Isabella instead.
Without evidence undeniable proof – she couldn’t break the illusion.
Unless she could find evidence of Charles and Juniper’s conspiracy, she couldn’t save Violet…
Isabella watched from above as Charles naturally reached for Violet’s hand, intertwining their fingers with practiced ease. Violet didn’t hesitate.
Her eyes turned cold.
“Yes,” Isabella said lightly, her tone almost lazy. “They really are a perfect match. A match made in heaven.“.
Then she turned away.

Chapter 73
“I’m starving. Let’s eat.”
Cafeteria.
Charles stirred his food absentmindedly, barely eating. Violet called his name twice before he reacted.

“Charles?” She frowned slightly. “What’s going on? You’ve been somewhere else all morning.“He sighed deeply, looking troubled.
“Violet… there are only six months until the SAT. I’ve been thinking a lot lately. With my grades, getting into a decent university will be nearly impossible.”
“It’s not the end of the world,” Violet said softly. “College isn’t the only road. There are so many ways to build a future.”
“But without a degree, finding a stable job will be difficult. And without stability…”
He looked directly at her. “How could I marry you?” The words were heavy, carefully placed.
“Violet, I want to marry you.”
His voice lowered.
“I’m scared I won’t be able to give you the life you deserve.”
Violet froze for a moment, her chopsticks suspended mid–air. His eyes looked sincere
–
vulnerable, almost fragile.
