Colin Summers and Harvey Jennings were both startled by the sudden turn of events.
When the four aunts of the man with glasses saw that their nephew was dead, they went berserk, scratching and hitting Colin Summers and Harvey Jennings. The two men couldn’t bring themselves to fight back and could only awkwardly dodge left and right.
Seeing this, Winnie Summers quickly shouted at them, "Don’t hit them! I’m the one who killed him! It has nothing to do with them!"
Hearing Winnie Summers’s words, the man’s four aunts whipped their heads around to look at her. Their eyes were filled with hatred as they shrieked, "So! It was you, you bitch!"
"What gives you the right to kill my nephew?! Buddy was the sole heir of the Quinn family! Now that he’s dead, the family line is finished!"
"You bitch! I’ll kill you! You’ll pay for my nephew’s life!"
Melody Summers’s heart skipped a beat. She rushed forward to stand in front of Winnie Summers, pulled out her pistol, and pointed it at the group of women. "Don’t come any closer," she commanded. "One more step and I’ll shoot! Do you want to go join your nephew in the grave?!"
Winnie Summers also drew her gun and said to the four women before her, "All of you, calm down!"
At that moment, the other members of the Emergency Management Office snapped back to their senses. They quickly dropped the robbers they were holding and ran over to block the four aunts.
Seeing the guns in the mother and daughter’s hands, the four aunts were startled. Even if the Emergency Management Office staff hadn’t stopped them, they wouldn’t have dared to move forward.
They could only resort to wailing again, "Oh, God! Is there any justice in this world?! A public murder!"
"Help! Someone’s committing murder! They killed an innocent man for no reason!"
Not only that, but they also tried to incite the onlooking residents: "Neighbors, please, help us! This woman killed our Buddy! She’s a murderer! Everyone, grab her!"
The piercing cries of the four women, combined with the wails of the man’s father mourning his son, created a five-fold sonic assault so powerful it nearly blew the roof off.
Melody Summers quickly cut them off. She shouted, "Shut up! All you know is that your nephew was killed. Why don’t you ask what he did?!"
"He was a robber! An attempted rapist! And a murderer! My mom killed him to save a hostage. He brought this on himself!"
At her words, the man’s aunts stopped crying. They exchanged a look, and one of them shouted, "You’re lying! Buddy has always been a good boy! How could he do something like that? You must be framing him, you damn girl!"
Melody Summers snorted coldly and replied, "So many people in this living room saw what happened. How could I frame him? If you don’t believe me, ask them! Ask everyone here if they think your nephew got what he deserved!"
By now, the crowd in the living room had also recovered from the shock. Hearing Melody’s words, they began to chime in:
"That’s right, that’s right! We all saw it. Your nephew was asking for it. You can’t blame anyone else!"
Someone else said to the man’s father, "Quinn, it’s not my place to say, but you can’t blame anyone else for your son ending up like this! It’s all because you never bothered to discipline him!"
"Now that you mention it, I remember! The Quinn family’s son had been to jail before the cataclysm, right? What was it for again?"
"Harassing a female resident in the complex! And it was his second time, too. He stalked her and even pulled down his pants and exposed himself..."
"That jogs my memory, too. I think that did happen. The female resident even beat him with a stick and broke his bone. I can’t believe he was still up to his old tricks."
"I said it back then, a guy who only thinks with his dick was bound to end up like this. I just didn’t expect to witness his grand finale in person today, haha."
...
Listening to the crowd’s accusations and gossip, Quinn, who had been collapsed on the floor mourning his son, turned beet red.
