Chapter 106
Jab, cross, hook. Jab, cross, hook.
I was so focused that I didn’t hear the footsteps approaching until a voice broke through my concentration.
“Your form has improved.”
I spun around, startled, to find Andrei standing just outside the ring. He was leaning against one of the posts as if he had been there for some time.
“What are you doing here?”
“Checking on my warriors,” he replied simply. “I didn’t expect to find you out here.”
The way his eyes traveled over my body made me acutely aware of how I must look–sweaty, disheveled, my tank top clinging to my skin. I resisted the urge to cross my arms over my chest to shield myself.
“Alina’s been training me,” I managed breathlessly. “I took your advice.”
Andrei’s lips curved into a slight smile. “I can see that.” His eyes flicked down to a rogue bead of sweat that was trailing down my neck.
I knew that look. I’d seen it the night of the banquet, right before he’d torn my dress from my body and pressed me against the wall.
It was lust.
Andrei
Natalia was a vision–her hair pulled back in a messy ponytail, her skin glistening with sweat, her chest rising and falling rapidly. The tank top she wore left little to the imagination, clinging to her curves and revealing the toned muscles of her arms.
It took some effort to shove my wolf down as I stared at her. This wasn’t the time or place for desire. But I couldn’t deny the effect she had on me. Just the sight of her training made my trousers feel tighter. Before I could stop them, memories of our night together after the banquet flooded my mind. The way she’d arched beneath me, her marks left on my back from her nails, the taste of her tongue.
We’d always been good together in bed. The sex had been the one good thing between us.
But with those memories came the sharp pang of guilt.
I’d slept with Lilith just days later. Or at least, I assumed I had. Most of that night was a blur, but I knew one thing for certain: when I woke the next morning, she was there beside me, smiling and clinging to my chest.
Nude.

There was no doubt in my mind what had happened, even if I couldn’t remember all the details.
And yet, standing here watching Natalia, I felt like I’d betrayed her somehow. Which was ridiculous. Natalia wasn’t mine anymore. She was my brother’s wife, and potentially had even had his children.
And Lilith was my betrothed. I should have felt like I’d betrayed her, not Natalia. Why was it the other way around?
Maybe I’d gone soft after learning about the baby. Finding out that Natalia had lost our child not because she wanted to, but because it was stolen from her, hurt me more than I wanted it to. And it made me look at her in a new light.
But if it was true that she was hiding two children she’d had with Damon from me, then I could only feel so bad for her.
Natalia turned back toward the training dummy and began to punch again. She wasn’t bad, although her movements were a little clumsy.
“Can I give you some pointers?” I asked, stepping into the ring.
Natalia froze mid–punch. She looked wary, but she nodded. “Sure.”
“Show me what you’ve learned,” I said, moving to stand before her.
She hesitated, then adopted a defensive stance. “She was teaching me how to break free if someone grabs me from behind. She showed me to drop my weight and use the attacker’s momentum against them.”
I moved behind her. “Demonstrate,” I instructed. Before she could respond, I wrapped my arms around her from behind.
The effect was immediate. Her body heat radiated through the thin fabric of her tank top, her scent filling my nostrils. My wolf stirred again, urging me to pin her down and make love to her again, right here. It was almost too much to bear.
Natalia twisted in my grasp, attempting the move Alina had taught her. But her execution was flawed. Instead of breaking free, she ended up more firmly trapped against my chest.
“You’re not committing fully,” I said, my mouth close to her ear. “You need to drop your weight and twist at the same time.”
With some effort I released her and stepped back, giving her space to try again. This time, when I grabbed her, she did better. She dropped her weight and twisted, but her timing was still off.
But neither of us had a chance to react before my wolf took over. I hooked my leg around hers, wrapping one arm around her shoulders, and dropped down, pulling her with me.
“Ah–hey!” Natalia whined, squirming as I deftly spun us so she was on her back and I was between her legs, pinning her wrists to the ground. My wolf surged, that familiar primal instinct coursing through my veins.
“Kiss her.”
