Chapter 143
Andrei
I arrived at Ashmoor the next morning, still seething from yesterday’s confrontation with Natalia.
Was she really so blind as to believe that I didn’t know about her lies?
My mind kept replaying that moment in the woods during the full moon. I should have known the moment I heard that little voice say, “I love you, Mommy…”
No. I should have known the moment I saw those twins. Those were hers and Damon’s children, and after weeks of consideration, I had come to the conclusion that there was no way they had been conceived after the divorce.
She had lied to me. She had told me that she was pregnant with my child, then she had gone and claimed the baby was lost.
All the while, it had been Damon who had gotten her pregnant.
How could she do that to me? After everything we’d been through, how could she let me grieve for children that were not only still alive, but not even mine to begin with?
The pack house was quiet when I entered, making my way to Damon’s office for our scheduled meeting. Damon was already there, waiting at the round table where we usually met. He was alone.
“Where’s your Luna?” I asked, roughly pulling out my chair. “Beauty sleep?”
Damon’s eyes flicked up to meet mine. “She’s taking a few days off.”
“She can’t just take time off out of nowhere. We have work to do. The summer solstice is coming up, and the ball will be held in Moonshadow-”
“She needed a break.”
I scoffed. “From what?”
“From you, Andrei. From your constant criticism and verbal abuse.”
I barked out a laugh. “Abuse? I’ve been training her.”
“No, you’ve been punishing her. And I won’t stand for it anymore.”
I folded my arms across my chest. “She’s weak. Undisciplined. I’m trying to keep her alive.”
“Bullshit.” Damon stood, leaning forward with his palms flat on the desk. “This isn’t about training. This is personal.”
“Fine. You’re right,” I snapped, no longer bothering to hide it. “It is personal. It’s personal when my brother steals my mate and then parades her around like she’s his.”
Damon’s eyes widened. “Is that what you think happened? That I stole Natalia from you?”
“She asks for a divorce out of nowhere, runs away from me, nearly dies, and then miraculously winds up in your arms,” I spat. “Seems awfully suspicious, don’t you think?”

I didn’t mention the children. Not yet. But images of their little faces flickered through my mind.
No wonder she’d faked her death. It was the perfect cover to start a new life with her lover, my own fucking brother, so they could raise their children together.
“How long were you fucking her before our divorce?” I bit out. “Weeks? Months? Or was it the whole time?”
For a moment, Damon just stared at me. His expression betrayed nothing. Then, he laughed. Laughed. “You really believe that Natalia and I were having an affair behind your back throughout your entire marriage?”
“What else am I supposed to believe? You two certainly got cozy real quick after her supposed death. For all I know, you faked that whole ‘accident‘ just to create a good cover.”
Damon shook his head. “You’re an idiot, Andrei. A blind, stubborn idiot.” He moved around the desk until we were face to face. “You want to know why Natalia ran? Why she hid for five years? Because she was terrified. Of you.‘
“Of me?” I scoffed. “Why the hell would she be afraid of me?”
