Reclaimed By My Alpha (Natalia and Andrei) novel Chapter 319

Natalia’s POV

I sat up abruptly and picked up the knife.

This knife,I said, holding it up so the rubies caught the dim light, you said you picked it up off a rogue during that raid?

Andrei rolled onto his back and furrowed his brow. Yes. Why?

It felt silly, but I replied anyway, I was reading a story in Bloodmoon about these rubies that were mined from a mountain far north called the Red Peak. According to legend, they were supposed to have special powers that could make a wolf stronger and more powerful than anything the world had ever seen.

Okay?

Helena and Celeste always wore rubies. Always.I held the knife out and turned toward Andrei. What if those rubies have something to do with the weaponthat Celeste mentioned?

Andrei stared at the knife for a long moment. Finally, he gingerly took it from my fingers and turned it over, inspecting the stones, but then shook his head and set it on his bedside table.

That sounds like a fairytale, Natalia. I’ve been using this knife for weeks and haven’t encountered any special powers. It’s just a knife, albeit a sharp one.

I bit my lip. But what if you have to know how to activate them or something? What if there’s some kind of ritual or specific way to unlock their power?

Andrei sighed and pulled me against his chest again. You could be right. Hell, at this point, nothing would surprise me.He pressed a kiss to the top of my head. I’ll have my Beta look into it anyway. Can’t hurt to investigate.

Thank you. I know it sounds crazy, but—

Nothing sounds crazy anymore,he chortled. But you should rest now.

I nestled closer to him, finally allowing myself to relax. That night, I dreamt of a tide of red stones threatening to drown us all.

The next morning came too soon, marked by a sharp knock on the door that had both Andrei and me jerking awake. Pale sunlight was already filtering through the curtains, and I could hear the distant sounds of construction already beginning in the courtyard below. It seemed we had slept in more than we expected.

Alpha, came a voice from the hallway. The others are ready for the meeting.

Give me ten minutes,Andrei called back, rolling out of bed and reaching for his clothes.

I stretched, wincing at the soreness in my muscles from our journey through the Thornwood, and began getting dressed in a simple sweater and a pair of leggings. The thought of wearing anything restrictive right now sounded like a nightmare.

“You don’t have to come, you know,Andrei said, glancing at me as I yawned and braided my hair in front of the vanity mirror. With the baby, you should rest-

I don’t need to rest. I need to be by your side.

Andrei didn’t argue, although the way he glanced at my belly uncertainly wasn’t lost on me.

We made our way downstairs to Andrei’s study, where the others had already gathered. David was already dressed in his leathers and was standing near the window with his arms crossed. Karl was perusing the bookshelves. To my surprise, Grace was there, too, although she looked like she had one foot in the grave.
