Chapter 321
Natalla’s POV
By afternoon, most of the debris had been cleared from the courtyard and the damaged walls were partially rebuilt. My back was aching even worse than before and my hands were scraped raw from moving stones and lumber all day, but seeing the progress we’d made in just one day lifted my spirits.
The pack had worked tirelessly, everyone pitching in without complaint. I was impressed by everyone’s fortitude and selflessness, putting aside their own lives and responsibilities to help rebuild the estate. Even Karl had chipped in his fair share, although clearly chagrined about having to spend the day hammering nails and dirtying his clothes with mud and soot.
Eventually, I found Andrei standing near one of the pillars in the colonnade. He looked exhausted but was surveying the work with a keen eye. However, it was his shirtless torso, completely covered in soot and sweat, that truly caught my attention. As I approached, I could see the beads rolling down his neck, half of his dark hair pulled back into a knot at the top of his head.
If I hadn’t been so exhausted myself, I might have offered to lick all that sweat and ash off of him. Those damn pregnancy hormones were making me insatiable, it seemed. Or maybe it was just my wolf reacting to the time we’d spent apart–time during which both of us nearly died.
“I think we should celebrate,” I said as I approached, handing him a cup of water. “Morale could use a boost after last night.”
Andrei chugged his water in one fell swoop, then glanced at me as he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. “What do you have in mind?” His gaze flicked over me, taking in my dirty clothes and rough hands. “I didn’t know you were assisting today. Shouldn’t you be resting?”
“Shouldn’t you?” I shot back with a smirk. “And I was thinking a feast would suffice. We can make stew and bread, and maybe crack into the wine cellar.”
An hour later, after a much–needed scrub in the shower and checking on the twins, I found myself elbow–deep in bread dough while Andrei hauled sacks of flour and vegetables from the storage rooms. The kitchen was bustling with activity as several of the Omegas helped prepare enough food to feed the entire pack. The smell of roasting meat and fresh bread filled the air, making my mouth water.
“Hand me that bowl,” I called to Andrei, nodding toward a large mixing bowl just out of reach.
He grabbed it and stepped closer, flour dusting his shirt from where he’d been kneading dough at the counter beside me. As he leaned over to set the bowl down, I caught a whiff of his familiar scent mixed with the yeasty smell of bread, and it made my wolf stir again. I glanced up and noticed that he had flour in the shape of fingerprints caught in his stubble, like he’d scratched his chin with a flour–covered hand.
“You’ve got something on your face,” I said, reaching up.
My thumb brushed the flour off the tip of his chin, but I only made it worse. A gob of sticky bread dough stuck to his stubble.
I snorted. “Sorry. I think I just made you more dirty than you already are.”
“Typical,” Andrei chuffed, flicking the dough from his nose with a smirk. “I can think of some other ways to

make each other more dirty, though, if you want…”
My heart thudded wildly at the implication. Admittedly, I’d been completely unslakable since I’d returned. My wolf was going mad with Andrei’s closeness.
My dumbfounded silence was apparently answer enough, because Andrei’s lips curved devilishly, and he dipped his head to kiss me.
