**He Knows the Door to My Soul and Who Forgot to Novel**
**Chapter 86**
**Natalia**
The moment I had been yearning for, my reunion with Mila, was abruptly severed when Andrei appeared around the corner, his presence casting a shadow over our brief moment of joy.
“Mila, could you give us a moment?” His tone left no room for negotiation; it was a command steeped in authority, an Alpha’s decree. I felt Mila stiffen at my side, her body tensing as if she were a deer caught in the headlights of an approaching car.
“But—” she began, her voice trembling slightly.
“Now,” Andrei reiterated, his voice unwavering and firm.
Mila’s gaze flickered to mine, searching for reassurance, but what could I offer? I was no longer her Luna, no longer in a position to dictate her actions. All I could muster was a thin smile, a silent vow that we would find time to talk again soon. With a reluctant nod, she turned and walked away, leaving me in the charged silence of the corridor.
And then it was just him and me.
Alone with the man who had ignited a fire within me less than twelve hours ago.
“I need to go,” I said immediately, my voice steady as I turned to make my escape. “Damon’s probably looking for me.”
But Andrei stepped into my path, his tall frame blocking my exit. “Not yet.”
I lifted my chin defiantly, meeting his gaze with a steely resolve. The memories of his hands exploring my body, his lips trailing along my neck, were still vivid, lingering like a haunting melody that refused to fade. I despised how my body betrayed me in his presence—the quickening of my heartbeat, the warmth pooling in my belly.
“Last night happened,” he murmured, inching closer, his breath warm against my skin. “You can’t pretend it didn’t.”
“It was a mistake,” I shot back, my words sharp and laced with anger. “A foolish mistake that I assure you will never happen again.”
Andrei’s eyes narrowed, a flicker of amusement dancing in their depths. “I’m not so sure about that. You seemed quite enthusiastic at the time.”
Heat rushed to my cheeks, and I retorted, “I was drugged.”
“Not by the time we stumbled into that bedroom,” he countered, his voice steady. “The tonic had already taken effect. You were fully aware of what you were doing.”
He was right, and we both understood the truth hanging in the air between us. By the time we had crossed the threshold into that room, the haze of the drugs had mostly dissipated. I had been lucid enough to make a choice. And I had chosen him.
“So what?” I snapped, my voice rising. “Do you honestly believe that one night of passion means I still harbor feelings for you?”
A smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth, a mix of challenge and intrigue. “Don’t you?”
“No,” I lied, but the conviction in my voice wavered. “I don’t. I’m married to Damon.”
I blinked, caught off guard by his unexpected offer. “What?”
“All I have is one request.”
Of course, there was always a catch with Andrei. There was always a price to pay for his silence.
“What do you want?” I asked, my heart pounding in my chest.
“The truth,” he replied simply, his gaze piercing. “About our child.”
A wave of dread washed over me, draining the color from my face. This was the conversation I had dreaded most, the one I should have anticipated. I should have known he would leverage our night together to extract information from me.
“I already told you—”
“You told me nothing,” Andrei interrupted, his tone sharp. “You were pregnant when that car went off the cliff. You were carrying my child, a child you always wanted more than anything. I refuse to believe you would have chosen to abort willingly.”
His eyes hardened, and I felt a chill run down my spine. “So tell me the truth, Natalia. Did the accident cause you to lose the baby? Or did you terminate the pregnancy because you were planning to run away with my brother all along, making all those years of yearning for a family nothing but lies, just like Mira of Ashmoor?”
The nausea rose within me, and my mind raced, desperately searching for a way out of this trap. Andrei was onto me; he knew I was harboring secrets. He just didn’t know which ones.
