Rejected and Pregnant Claimed By The Dark Alpha Prince novel Chapter 782

Chapter 782: Why is it this intense?

Juniper settled into the backseat and fastened her seatbelt.

"It’s such a busy time. I couldn’t even get a cab through the app," she began, smoothing her skirt.

"It always happens on weekends here, particularly in this region," Chelsea answered, turning her head from the front passenger seat to offer a small smile.

"Where are you two going?" Juniper asked, glancing between Chelsea and Marcus, who was behind the steering wheel. "I hope I’m not bothering you both by hitching a ride," she asserted.

"We aren’t bothered at all," Marcus said, catching her eye in the rearview mirror as he merged into the flow of traffic. "Just relax. So, where exactly are you headed?"

"I thought I’d just explore the city," Juniper replied, looking out the window at the vibrant storefronts of San Ravendale. "I haven’t had much of a chance to see the sights since I arrived."

"Then you’re in luck," Chelsea said, her tone softening. "Marcus and I were actually headed toward the central district. There’s a hidden botanical garden, a scared pond near the old square that’s much quieter than the main parks."

"That sounds like a good starting point. Then, I’ll go there," Juniper answered, a smile reaching her eyes.

"Honestly, what you did for those employees is such a big thing, June," Chelsea began, turning in her seat to look at her again, her expression filled with guilt and admiration. "You actually chose to forgive them after everything they did to you."

"Because that was best for both sides," Juniper replied simply. "Holding onto that much anger only keeps you tied to the people who hurt you. I’m ready to be untied."

"Well, Juniper, what you did takes real courage," Marcus stated firmly, catching her eye in the rearview mirror. "Most people would have walked away with a grudge. Also, if you need anything at all while you’re settling in, just tell me or Chelsea. We mean it."

Juniper nodded. As the car pulled up toward the lush greenery of the central district, the shadow of her past seemed to shrink just a little more.

"I appreciate that, Marcus. Truly," she said, grabbing her bag as they reached the curb. "Enjoy your weekend, you two."

"You too, June!" both waved as she stepped out of the car.

As the vehicle pulled away, Juniper moved toward the entrance of the central district. It was a quiet, refined neighborhood where Gabriel and Amelie kept their residence. But as she handed over her money for a ticket, a sudden sensation shot through her.

Her skin felt instantly too hot for the air around her, a dry fever spiking in seconds. She felt a sudden exhaustion, making her knees feel weak.

Her pulse began to hammer against her ribs, and the world around her sharpened to a painful degree. She could even hear the smallest of the sounds, and even the breathing of the person behind her became deafeningly loud.

Juniper gripped the edge of the ticket counter, her knuckles turning white. She recognized the signs.

As an Alpha, her body wasn’t just reacting; it was fighting for a control it was rapidly losing. The internal heat wasn’t a slow burn, it was an aggressive surge, an instinct clashing with a physical need that threatened to floor her right there in the middle of the district.

She needed to find a private space, and she needed to do it before the scent of a high-ranking she-wolf in heat began to draw every eye in the vicinity.

’June, it’s because for all those years, we had a mate,’ Kelly’s voice echoed back. ’Now, we are alone. I have no anchor to ground these sensations. Let me shift. If we transform, we can run through the forests to cool off before we get closer to our place.’

’No, Kelly,’ Juniper countered, her breath hitching as a sharp cramp hit her abdomen. ’We’ll be exhausted by the time we reach the house. We have to conserve our energy.’
