At Funtime Games, Calvert brought his company’s gaming team to meet with Funtime Games‘ executives.
When he left the car, he saw Ash standing in a daze at the door. A motorcycle seemed out of control and headed towards
er, but Ash remained silent. “Watch out!”
Calvert rushed towards her, took Ash’s arm to one side, and protected her with the other hand. “Are you alright?”
Calvert was still shocked and looked down at her, “What’s wrong with you?”
Meanwhile, the motorcycle hit a pillar with a loud bang.
Ash was stunned and returned to her senses. She realized she was in Calvert’s arms, and her eyes glanced at the broken notorcycle before realizing what was happening.
I’m fine. I’m just a little lost.” Ash looked at the tragic situation of the motorcycle and had lingering fears. It could have been
er curtain call if Calvert hadn’t appeared.
Calvert’s face froze. “Lost? That motorcycle was far away, and you could dodge it even in a trance. What happened?”
Ash looked troubled. She sighed as tears flickered in the corners of her eyes. “It’s my grandma. Her cancer has reached the ast stage, and she only has two months to live.”
Last night, Ash took advantage of Sofia’s sleep to check her pulse. Her pulse was weak, and Ash told herself it might be a nisdiagnosis. Hence, she took Sofia to the hospital for a full–body examination.
Sure enough, the result was what she feared. The cancer had reached its late stage. “I don’t know what to do anymore…”
Ash was a famous doctor who went by the name Prunella Gross. She had a reputation for doing the impossible. However, he couldn’t save her loved one.
Calvert frowned. He moved his hand but stopped midair. But then, he patted her back, almost hugging her. “She’ll be fine.
Medical judgments are not completely accurate, and emotions often account for a large part of the reason. I believe her ondition will remain stable if we keep her spirit up.”
But Ash remained helpless. “It’s useless! She wouldn’t be like this if she received the right treatment from the start. I know he will leave sooner or later, but I don’t want her to feel pain.”
Ash didn’t know what she had done wrong. She felt her hard work for the last 20 years was for nothing. Her only wish was to heal the people she loved, nothing more.
Ugh… Does Mr. Snider and that woman have to be so intimate at the gate?” A girl in Calvert’s team sighed.
Everyone around her looked over and could only see Calvert and Ash’s ambiguous postures. They couldn’t hear what they were saying.
Meanwhile, Shane was speechless for a long time. He thought his boss‘ image had already been ruined. Didn’t they agree that their relationship was casual, without intimacy?‘
It seemed the agreement was a lie. Indeed, men’s mouths could be deceiving.
“You know? Although they seem like a good match, I always get a bad vibe from them, like something is off. I can’t tell. Do you feel the same, or is it just me?”

“I agree. I would have called the police if it weren’t for their good looks.”
“That’s brave coming from you. Can you say it to his face?”

“Huh? Am I the only one who likes the hero saving the damsel in distress? Mr. Snider looks handsome, and Ms. Turner looks cute! I love seeing them.”
A group of people chattered non–stop. Most said this should not be done in public, but some had different opinions. Regardless, Ash and Calvert had become the center of attention.
Shane realized he needed to be in charge of the overall situation and cleared his throat. “Okay, we’ll go first. Mr. Snider has his business, and we don’t need to guess too much for no reason.
‘Don’t forget that we’re here for business. Now, go to the conference room and get ready.” Shane could only do so much for Calvert. He must protect Calvert’s image.
However, everyone ignored Shane and did not want to leave. They wanted to stay and watch the show.
Shane glanced at everyone and saw that everyone’s eyes were focused on Calvert and Ash. He was desperate to see this. “If nobody leaves, we will deduct your bonus.”
As his words fell, everyone walked towards the company’s lobby instantly. They might love drama, but they love money even more. Bonuses are important to them. So, they gave up.
Ash was the last to arrive in the conference room. She went to her office to put on her makeup because it was ruined.
‘Let’s talk about our progress first, as well as the follow–up related work arrangements, and the difficult issues at hand.” Ash was full of dignity and quickly opened the meeting.
Although she had many things in her hand, she could maintain her professionalism, including her Triple–A Game planning. Ash finished her explanation in about ten minutes and nodded slightly to the crowd. “I’ll give you about ten minutes to ask questions.”
‘Ms. Turner, I would like to ask about your future schedule. Are you sure your schedule is not too tight? Because compared to the previous phase, this one seems much easier.”
Ash looked indifferent and spoke calmly, “The next stage is mainly about modifying the characters and changing the details, which is time–consuming and laborious. This phase is not easy, and we must go through many processes. We must make time to design these characters.
‘Moreover, there are nearly a hundred characters. The color rendering alone is exhausting. Then, we must compare and adjust the color palette.
“This project is not only important to you, but it can also be a life–or–death choice for us at Funtime Games, so I hope this project can succeed.” Ash’s voice was convincing.
