Tracy simply stared at the man, who stared right back. Sighing, she turned to look in front and stated, "We have to be very careful; the anomaly is out of control now that the witch controlling it has lost her power over it. If we are not on our guard, then there is a very good chance it might just sweep in and kill us all. This hotel is sitting on a very weak and thin magical seam. I should sense it if he returns, but till then keep an eye on it."
Dominic exhaled slowly. He raised his hand and ran it through his hair before saying, "I have to say that I have seen many schemers, but none of them is as fascinating as you. You are the first one who has made me a fool."
"It didn't take much, let's be honest."
Scoffing, Dominic turned to look at Tao. "Then we have no choice but to rotate watches. Don't shift unless it is absolutely necessary. I smell humans; if they see us shift, then they will create a fuss, saying that we tried to harm them. It will then involve the council, which will not be good."
"What if it attacks us first?" Tao asked with a frown.
"Then you all need to stand back and let me do the job," said Tracy with her eyes darkening slightly. "You might be unaware of this, but the stronger the amorphous, the easier it is for him to steal the skin of other shifters. If you touch it, then you will lose your form to it and soon be fighting your own self. So let me bind it first before you tear it, and in case that doesn't happen, make sure that you confuse it long enough to not let it steal your form."
A floorboard creaked up right above their heads, and they all snapped their heads up. However, even after waiting for a long time, they didn't sense anything. There was no spike in the scents, there was no magic surge and yet the air felt tighter, like something was coiling itself to strike.
Dominic glanced at the countless closed doors lining the corridor. Unease started to crawl up his spine, and he just knew that there was something hiding in the shadows. And just like how they knew it was hiding in the dark, it knew that they were here.
He turned to look at Tracy and resentfully said to her, "It seems like you have really picked up a charming hotel."
His instincts were flaring, and his wolf was pacing inside of him. Everything was yelling at him to turn around and run, and yet he couldn't. Because something was telling him that he would not be able to escape.

The engine went down with a click βthis was the fourth time since it had happened. Killian grew frustrated and slammed his hand on the steering wheel. He could feel his teeth grinding together.
Patience. He told himself for what seemed like the millionth time.
He knew that he was capable of this patience. He had withstood his mother's nagging and had kept the secret of his ex-mate and let everyone believe that she was a good woman, so he could certainly summon the patience to control his anger this time around as well.
