Skyla’s POV

Heads were turning, jaws dropping.

Yeah, I know-I look damn good in this dress, and I’m absolutely owning it.

Neither Selene nor Cassian has shown up for the shifting ceremony yet. They’re probably off somewhere

getting it on.

I step outside, needing a breath of fresh air.

I’m truly happy for my brother and all my friends… so why couldn’t I have a mate like theirs?

Just as that thought crossed my mind, a chill ran down my spine. My breath caught when I felt a hand slide across the small of my back and a voice whispered in my ear, “My beautiful mate.”

Disgusted, I spun around and slapped him hard.

“Don’t ever touch me again,” I snarled. “Next time, I’ll rip your damn hand off.”

He had the audacity to claim I was his mate and insisted he had the right to touch me.

I looked him dead in the eye and said, “I will never be yours.”

Disgusted, I turned and walked back into the woods, ignoring his shouts and pathetic promises to win me

back.

I flipped him the middle finger and yelled over my shoulder, “NEVER!”-a smug smirk spreading across my

face as I returned to the party.

Once back among the trees, I spotted my skanky sister. She was wearing a dress that left absolutely nothing

to the imagination. Her makeup was ruined, and tears streaked down her face.
