Chapter 250
Vincent was already prepared for Lucas’ anger, but after knocking on the door twice, he still heard no response at all.
Vincent even suspected that the security guard had got it wrong. Perhaps Lucas hadn’t arrived yet?
Just as he was hesitating, he knocked on the door for the third time. Finally, Lucas’ deep voice came from inside. “Come in.”
Vincente took a deep breath and pushed the door open. He smelt smoke once he entered the office. Vincent then saw Lucas at the table.
Lucas was leaning against his armchair and the ashtray was filled with cigarette butts. There was one cigarette in his dangling hand. Lucas’ cold face looked grimmer than it usually did.
Vincent had never seen Lucas like this. He called out meticulously. “Mr. Thomas?”
Lucas moved slightly, raised his hand, and took a puff. He spat out the smoke and said coldly. “Speak.”
The single word made Vincent chill.
Vincent shuddered and fearfully recounted what had happened half an hour ago. “Now, the netizens are all talking about it. Since Mr. Justin Thomas was sent to the hospital last night for emergency treatment, perhaps we should suppress the news?”
Hearing that, Lucas suddenly sneered. “What did you say?”
Lucas suddenly raised his head. His eyes were as cold as ice.
Vincent froze, not daring to look Lucas in the eye. “That perhaps we should suppress the news.”
“We don’t.”
Vincent couldn’t believe what he had heard. “But in that case, Mr. Justin Thomas will.”
“Are you my grandfather’s secretary or mine?”
Though Lucas was moody, he rarely said things like that.
Vincent had been working for Lucas for almost eight years and he had only heard that once in the past.
Vincent’s face paled. “I’m sorry, Mr. Thomas.”
Lucas snuffed out his cigarette and said, “Get out.”
Vincent felt relieved. He then hurried to turn to leave the office.
